\nIn an interview to Stella magazine, the Duchess admitted that she was unhappy that the late Princess was known as beautiful, serene, “people\u2019s princess”, while she was seen as fun loving, and naughty.
\n“It\u2019s pretty hard to change people\u2019s perceptions,” the Telegraph quoted Sarah as saying.
\nThe Duchess, known affectionately as “Fergie”, also had to compete with the newspaper headlines such as “Princess of Pork” after being condemned by media for her perceived extravagant lifestyle, and being overweight.
\n“I was so unhappy I ate all the time, and then I was pilloried for being overweight, and on the cycle went. I didn\u2019t know how to break it,” she said.
\n“I remember quite clearly Diana saying to me: ”Well, it\u2019s easier for you. I\u2019m at the top of the pedestal, and I have only one way to go. You are at the bottom, so you can really only go up”,” she added.The Duchess of York married Prince Andrew, then made the Duke of York by the Queen, at Westminster Abbey in July 1986 and she was initially seen as a breath of fresh air for the Royal family. The couple had two daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie.
