{"id":5072,"date":"2008-10-07T00:31:52","date_gmt":"2008-10-07T00:31:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2008\/10\/07\/rags-to-riches-rise-of-007-girl\/"},"modified":"2008-10-07T00:31:52","modified_gmt":"2008-10-07T00:31:52","slug":"rags-to-riches-rise-of-007-girl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2008\/10\/07\/rags-to-riches-rise-of-007-girl\/","title":{"rendered":"Rags-to-riches rise of 007 girl"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/RUNCBQHKFUNFWEYRLEFX.JPG>The Hundreds of girls auditioned to be the next Bond girl but when virtually unknown model and actress Olga Kurylenko turned up for her try-out she hadn\u2019t rehearsed for the role.<br \/>\n\u201cI didn\u2019t get the scenes to learn beforehand,\u2019\u2019 the 29-year-old says.<br \/>\n\u201cThey didn\u2019t arrive so I was totally unprepared.<br \/>\n\u201cSo I sat there for 20 minutes trying to memorise them, but the audition ended up more like an improvisation.<br \/>\n\u201cI thought, `Well I\u2019ve got nothing to lose; I probably won\u2019t get it, so I\u2019m just going to have fun.\u2019\u2019\u2019<br \/>\nHer attitude worked: Kurylenko was cast as feisty femme fatale Camille opposite Daniel Craig in the 22nd Bond film, Quantum Of Solace, earning her place in celluloid history as a sexy Bond girl.<br \/>\nAnd, as just announced, Kurylenko and Craig will visit Australia for the film\u2019s premiere in Sydney next month.<br \/>\nThe starlet won\u2019t reveal exactly what happens in 007\u2019s next adventure epic but tells of scenes involving a complicated yet sizzling romantic moment between Camille and Craig\u2019s suave secret agent.<br \/>\n\u201cIt\u2019s an interesting relationship,\u2019\u2019 she adds mysteriously.<br \/>\nIronically, Kurylenko, who grew up in the Soviet Union, knew little about James Bond, as the films were banned under communism.<br \/>\nAfter landing the role, she watched almost 20 Bond films back to back.<br \/>\nNot surprisingly, Craig is her favourite Bond.<br \/>\n\u201cHe really cares about the character and the film,\u2019\u2019 she says. &#8220;It\u2019s funny, but you can really feel that he becomes James Bond.<br \/>\nKurylenko still can\u2019t believe her luck, having grown up in poverty in an isolated Ukraine peninsula town with her struggling art-teacher mother. They were so poor Kurylenko wore rags to school.<br \/>\n\u201cFrom where I came from, everything that\u2019s happened to me seems like a dream,\u2019\u2019 she says. \u201cWe had nothing.\u201d<br \/>\nHer luck changed when a modelling agent spotted the then 15-year-old while she was on a trip to Moscow.<br \/>\nA year later, Kurylenko relocated to Paris, where she still lives.<br \/>\nWithin six months the \u201cgeeky teen misfit\u2019\u2019 had learnt French and she went on to land covers of Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire and Glamour magazines and become the face of Clarins and Helena Rubinstein cosmetics.<br \/>\nNow, on the cusp of world-wide fame, her oppressive life behind the Iron Curtain is a distant memory.<br \/>\n\u201cShe\u2019s not like all the other Bond girls that she\u2019s this poor thing he has to protect.
