{"id":50909,"date":"2009-05-17T01:20:17","date_gmt":"2009-05-17T01:20:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2009\/05\/17\/farrahs-final-battle\/"},"modified":"2009-05-17T01:20:17","modified_gmt":"2009-05-17T01:20:17","slug":"farrahs-final-battle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2009\/05\/17\/farrahs-final-battle\/","title":{"rendered":"Farrah\u2019s final battle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>The actress herself expected that the video diary chronicling her fight against cancer would have a happy ending, friends Ryan O\u2019Neal and Alana Stewart said.<br \/>\nBut even as her disease has progressed, they said, the former Charlie\u2019s Angels star is keeping hold of hope.<br \/>\n\u201cI know that Farrah hasn\u2019t given up,\u201d said Stewart, who met Fawcett in the 1970s in Los Angeles when they were young actresses from Texas looking for commercial work.<br \/>\nStewart was part of the making of Farrah\u2019s Story, airing on America\u2019s NBC network, holding the camera as her longtime friend underwent treatment.<br \/>\nThe diary will make clear to Fawcett\u2019s fans that there\u2019s more to her than glamorous good looks, O\u2019Neal said.<br \/>\n\u201cThey\u2019ll think they made the right choice years ago when they fell for her,\u201d he said. \u201cShe\u2019s a doll. She\u2019s a beauty inside and out.\u201d<br \/>\nO\u2019Neal, who has a son with Fawcett and remained close to her after their long romantic relationship ended in the late 1990s, said he plans to watch \u201cFarrah\u2019s Story\u201d with her at her Los Angeles home Friday.<br \/>\nFawcett, 62, was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006. It has spread to her liver.<br \/>\n\u201cShe\u2019s heavily medicated,\u201d O\u2019Neal said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to take some of these medications down so she\u2019s lucid and sharp to watch herself. I think she\u2019ll take great pride in this,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nThat\u2019s \u201con the one hand, and I don\u2019t know on the other,\u201d he said, his voice trailing off.<br \/>\nTrying to field questions about Fawcett and choking up at times, O\u2019Neal described himself and Stewart as \u201ctwo broken people.\u201d<br \/>\nFawcett is in a \u201cvery rocky place,\u201d O\u2019Neal said. \u201cWe put on a brave front, always, when we\u2019re with her. She doesn\u2019t know how scared we are.\u201d<br \/>\nFarrah\u2019s Story started out as a personal record, intended as a \u201csuccess story\u201d for family viewing, O\u2019Neal said, and to keep track of her treatment.<br \/>\n\u201cSomewhere along the line she got so many letters thanking her for her battle and courage and strength,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cShe started to feel there must be a reason she got cancer. If she had cancer, maybe it was her responsibility to do something for others. That\u2019s how the film evolved.\u201d<br \/>\nFarrah\u2019s Story will show her \u201cincredible strength,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cHer big message to people is don\u2019t give up, no matter what they say to you, keep fighting.\u201d<br \/>\nThat\u2019s what Stewart has told Fawcett when the ill woman\u2019s belief falters.<br \/>\n\u201cShe\u2019s looked at me before and said, \u2018Do you think I\u2019m gonna make it?\u2019 I look at her and say, \u2018I always believe in miracles, you believe in miracles.\u2019 &#8230; And it\u2019s the truth.
