\nThe bar association also reminded that any attack against the rule of law was an attack against the very foundation on which society was based.
\nThe association in a press release issued by its president Timikha Koza and secretary Akito Zhimomi said any litigant aggrieved by a judicial decision was at liberty to challenge the same in the appropriate forum.
\n\u201cResorting to publications in the media and terming an adverse judgement as \u2018arbitrary and with malafide intentions\u2019 reveals not only ignorance but also disrespect for the rule of law,\u201d the association said.
\nThe association also said the threat of the NPF party to boycott or prevent the celebration of the diamond jubilee of the Gauhati High Court in Nagaland, compounded the seriousness of the matter.
\nTerming the threat as nothing but immaturity and emotional rhetoric, the bar association reminded that in the present century, the rule of law was the guiding principle, which governed all societies.
\n\u201cThe judgement in the President\u2019s Rule case [2008 (2) GI.T 284] is just an example of dispensation of justice in societies where the rule of law prevails. It is most unfortunate that the reactions to the said judgement has resulted in making a mockery of the rule of law,\u201d the association added.
\nExpressing pain over the \u201cirresponsible statements\u201d, the association said that regardless of party politics or positions held, \u201cit must be appreciated by all that the rule of law is supreme.\u201d
