\nHe was addressing a meeting of the Dimapur district administration, police, army, intelligence department, and NGOs at the DC\u2019s conference hall that reviewed the security scenario in Dimapur against the backdrop of the serial blasts in Assam which left 77 dead and over 470 others injured. \u201cThe level of factional clashes has significantly reduced and vigorous efforts are being made by the leaders of the various factions, NGOs and civil societies\u201d Imchen said. He appreciated the different factions for responding to the calls of the NGOs to pave way for peace in the state.
\nImchen extended condolences to the bereaved families of the serial blasts in Assam saying it was \u201cpainful to us\u201d. He called for prevention of such incidents in the state and appealed for voluntary intelligence information from the public. In this connection, he asked the police to protect the sources of such intelligence inputs under any circumstances.
\nReiterating that deploying more security forces may not help much in curbing the problem, the home minister said that the police and other security forces should conduct \u201cdeterrent exercises\u201d which also has the authority to act upon through the sanction of the SoP.
\nThe home minister also called for strengthening of intelligence and public meetings of different sectors.
\nDC Dimapur, Maongwati Aier said that 40 underground activists were arrested and more than 100 weapons recovered during the last six months. Affirming that the anti-social elements had now resorted to the use of SIM cards as their weapons to issue threats and intimidations, Aier said the authority would take action against mobile phone operators which were giving connections without verifying proper addresses.He cautioned that Dimapur was not safe and called for a check to the inflow of immigrants who bring weapons of destruction. He asked the authorities to be double cautious in issuing ILPs. The DC reminded that Dimapur has been divided into eight sectors in the law and order front. These eight sectors are being headed by sector magistrates and sector commanders whose duty is to find out habitual offenders and criminals.
\nSP Dimapur, Liremo said that the police have started taking necessary measures to prevent any untoward incident especially after the serial blasts that rocked Assam, Thursday. He said vigorous security checking along with bomb disposal squad was being conducted in crowded places including Hong Kong market, Hazi Park, Durga Mandir, Super Market etc.
\nHe also asked the public to inform the police if they find any unclaimed object or any vehicle being kept unattended for a long time and not to crowd such areas. He appealed for support from the public in providing timely information.
\nThe army said it would use sniffer dogs during its operations.
