State chief minister, Neiphiu Rio Wednesday said peace was an essential requirement for development to take place and appealed public and civil societies to work in close cooperation to bring killings and violence to a halt. He was speaking at the inaugural function of newly upgraded ADC headquarters at Chozuba, Phek marking a historic day for the Chozuba area and its people, stated a press communiqu\u00e9 issued by press secretary to chief minister.\nAddressing a mammoth gathering at Chozuba ground, Rio paid tribute to the late former chief minister, Vamuzo \u201cwho was a champion of regionalism.\u201d He appreciated the contributions of the Chozuba area towards the regional movement and past leaders like Vamuzo and former home minister, Thenucho.
\nRio also expressed gratitude to independent MLAs, who have joined hands with DAN, and strengthened the regional party led government.
\nRio announced that the state government has instituted a Quality Control Board (QCB), through a cabinet decision. Stressing on the need for quality control, Rio said one of the drawbacks of the country was poor quality in infrastructure creation.
\nHe commented that the most majestic and magnificent buildings in the country today were the ones built by the British, adding other infrastructures were poor in quality, resulting in becoming liabilities. \u201cWe have to create assets not liabilities,\u201d chief minister said.
\nThe chief minister also called upon the public to take care and respect public properties so that the utilities of these assets were maximized, and expressed hope that public properties would not be abused and misused.
\n Earlier, chief minister unveiled a monolith and inaugurated a Trauma Centre at Chozuba, constructed by the medical department. The chief minister also inaugurated new rostrum at the local ground ahead of the official programme.
\nState medical minister, Kuzhuluzo and parliamentary secretary, Chotisuh Sazo also addressed the function.
\nThe programme was chaired by commissioner, HK Khulu, invocation was delivered by Rev Pukrolhu Lohe, welcome addressed by CPO president, Y. Veyie and the vote of thanks by CRPO president Cekrosayi.
