Underlining the habit of teachers who ignore their duties, minister for forests, wild life, ecology and excise M.C. Konyak said \u201cwe can not compromise with education, and such practices must be stopped forthwith\u201d. However, a teachers\u2019 task is painstaking, tough and holistic profession and we must all give due respect, he said. The minister was speaking as chief guest at the golden celebration of Government High School, Wakching Friday.\nHe said, \u201cwe are celebrating 50 years Jubilee of Wakching Govt. High -School today, in an old, dilapidated school building, it is my zeal that very soon we should be celebrating in a new School building, but to usher in progress and developments, collective cooperation must be given to the officials manning the various government departments\u201d adding \u201cwe must all pursue knowledge, worship education, as only those who strive for education shall rule the world.\u201d
\nIn his effort to encourage Konyak students to excel in their studies, M.C. Konyak rewarded Moishen, daughter of C. Shaupa Konyak Rs 10,000 for securing position in the top ten in PU examination, a promise he made to honour any such achievers among Konyak students.
\nSecretary to the government of Nagaland B. Thawang Konyak IAS who also attended the occasion as guest of honor said \u201cJubilee is a time of celebration and a time of reflection about the past\u201d. He said pupils could be molded into capable and responsible members of the society only through sincere approach and ingenuity of the teachers. He appealed the students to leave a good tradition for the posterity of the school to follow despite many possible adversities.
\nDeputy Commissioner, Mon, Dinesh Kumar, IAS, President, Konyak Union and scores of retired teachers including some from Sivsagar, Assam were among dignitaries who attended the jubilee celebration.
