{"id":52661,"date":"2009-10-18T00:42:09","date_gmt":"2009-10-18T00:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2009\/10\/18\/fgn-nnc-remember-naga-martyrs\/"},"modified":"2009-10-18T00:42:09","modified_gmt":"2009-10-18T00:42:09","slug":"fgn-nnc-remember-naga-martyrs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2009\/10\/18\/fgn-nnc-remember-naga-martyrs\/","title":{"rendered":"FGN, NNC remember \u2018Naga martyrs\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>The \u2018Federal Government of Nagaland\u2019 (FGN) and the Naga National Council (NNC) have paid glowing tributes to the memory of Naga martyrs on the occasion of \u201c57th Naga National Martyrs\u2019 Day\u201d.<br \/>\nIn a message received here Saturday, NNC vice president Kiumukam Yimchungr\u00fc, reminded Nagas that from 1946 till today, the NNC maintained its stand of non-violence.<br \/>\nAsserting that non-violence was the best method and policy to achieve \u201cour Naga freedom\u201d, the NNC, on the eve of \u201c57th Naga National Martyrs\u2019 Day\u201d, reiterated that it would pursue the policy of non-violence which was adopted by \u201cour pioneers\u201d since \u201cthe inception of our politics.\u201d<br \/>\nWhile affirming that \u201creconciliation and unity\u201d was a prerequisite for \u201cNaga political solution for freedom,\u201d the NNC accused the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) of working in a \u201cbiased way\u201d by dealing only with the NSCN (I-M), NSCN (K) and FGN and excluding NNC, Naga National Workers Support Group etc.<br \/>\nAccusing the FNR of dividing Nagas, Kiumukam stated that even the NGOs and church bodies like NBCC, Nagaland Christian Forum, Tenyimia Union, DBs and GBs, etc were excluded from the meeting when the FNR formed its Joint Working Group at its meeting in Thailand.<br \/>\n He said by excluding some groups from the reconciliation meeting, the FNR \u201cinstead of bringing all the Naga Political Groups together and the NGOs, the FNR are dividing the Naga people again intentionally.\u201d<br \/>\nFurther, he stated that FNR\u2019s work and efforts would never be successful but instead only \u201cruin the Naga people\u2019s desires for real reconciliation and unity amongst the political groups and other NGOs in the Homeland.\u201d<br \/>\nKiumukam said the Naga people faced two enduring obstacles on the \u201croad to freedom,\u201d such as -those residing within the Transit Camp of 1975 and the \u201cNaga reconciliation and unity amongst the National Workers.\u201d He said the \u201cTransit campers\u201d, have not vacated the camp of 1975 \u201ceven after 35 long years\u201d.<br \/>\nStating that the other main enduring desire and demand of the Naga people at the home front and by international bodies of different countries was reconciliation and unity of Naga national workers of different political groups, Kiumukam however, said this also failed to materialise. The NNC vice president said it was imperative for \u201cnational workers\u201d and Naga people overcome these obstacles, otherwise real peace and progress would not be possible.<br \/>\nSaluting all \u201cNaga Martyrs\u201d and their families on the occasion of \u201cNational Martyrs\u2019 Day\u201d, the NNC leader also reminded government of India to recognise the rights of Nagas for sovereignty, instead of \u201charping on about their constitution\u201d before it was too late.<br \/>\nMeanwhile,in another statement, the \u2018Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN)\u2019 ,vowed that it would maintain peace in the land and embark on peaceful resolution of all conflicts so as to lead to peaceful co-existence \u201cbetween neighbours.\u201d<br \/>\nPaying tribute to \u201cNaga Martyrs who sacrificed their precious lives for the future of the Naga people\u201d, the FGN \u2018killo kilonser\u2019 Shevoh\u00fc Keyho, in a message to Naga people, urged them to rise up and rededicate \u201cour lives in the foot prints of our past heroes\u201d to protect and preserve rich culture, tradition and \u201cour national right.\u201d<br \/>\nThe FGN alleged that the government of India was attempting to create confusion in \u201cour people\u2019s mind\u201d by using money power on some few \u201ceconomically desperate sections of Nagas\u201d against the \u201clawfully constituted Naga National Council (NNC) and Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN).\u201d<br \/>\nThe FGN stated that \u201cNaga national stand\u201d was visibly becoming more crystallized as pressures were exerted through \u201cevil agenda by the government of India.\u201d<br \/>\nOpining that the \u201cwar between India and Nagaland\u201d could have been averted if the \u201cIndian successor of Mahatma Gandhi\u201d were not \u201ctoo ambitious about being conquerors\u201d, the FGN leader, however, said that policy of Jawaharlal Nehru proved futile as Nagaland could never be conquered by military might.<br \/>\nThe FGN also urged the Nagas to remember and pay utmost respect to Naga martyrs and observe the \u201cDay\u201d with prayer in respect of \u201cour martyrs and our Nation.\u201d<br \/>\n Shevoh\u00fc Keyho recalled that 57 years ago, on the day, an Indian armed officer killed Naga leader Zasibito Nagi in the heart of Kohima town in broad daylight when the Naga people were taking peaceful and silent procession against the severe torture on a Naga boy by the Indian armed forces without any reason.<br \/>\nThe FGN said this incident was followed by many killings of Naga patriots by the Indian armed forces.<br \/>\nHe recalled the massacres at Yampang villae, Chang region on November 15,1954;Longpha village, Ao region on June 6,1956; Setts\u00fc village, Ao region on June 16, 1956; gruesome killings in Matikhr\u00fc village, Pochuri region on September 6,1960 and murder of missionary Pelesato whose body was never found by relatives for according proper burial and many such cases.<br \/>\n\u201cFor over half a century Naga people continued to suffer heavily in the hands of mighty India and Myanmar military tyranny where more than 100,000 men and women, young and old lives were lost only because of defending their homeland,\u201d the FGN \u2018killo kilonser\u2019 stated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The \u2018Federal Government of Nagaland\u2019 (FGN) and the Naga National Council (NNC) have paid glowing tributes to the memory of Naga martyrs on the occasion of \u201c57th Naga National Martyrs\u2019 Day\u201d.
