\nSpeaking as chief guest at the inaugural programme of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) initiated cultural festival, marking NCD\u2019s 60th anniversary, at Urban Haat Dimapur, Rio paid tribute to members of Naga Council who established the organization 60 years ago.
\nHe stated that Dimapur represented a \u201cminiature India\u201d and Nagaland in particular with all Naga tribes and people from different communities settled in the city. Rio asserted that festival was befitting to organization as it has survived 60 years in harmony.
\nStating that people needed to come together and contribute in building the city, the chief minister urged citizens to ensure civic sense first and check whether the city was safe with proper infrastructure for development.
\nUnderlining union government\u2019s \u2018Look East Policy\u2019, the state chief minister said there was serious competition taking place in various cities and called upon people of Dimapur to showcase the image of the city.
\nFurther, urging people not to give place to mediocrity, Mr,Rio said government would extend necessary support in building the city.
\nAlso, he appealed to the people to cooperate and pursue the goal in making the city a major \u201ccommercial hub\u201d to contend for \u201cLook East Policy.\u201d
\nMeghalaya deputy chief minister B.M. Lanong was special guest at the occasion.
\nThe programme was chaired NCD president Savi Liegise. Earlier, he delivered welcome address.
\nHighlights of the inaugural programme included release of Naga Council jacket\/blazer & souvenir by chief guest, and felicitation of past presidents and general secretaries of the council.
\nTraditional horn blow by Ditsolo Kupa, music by Nagaland Chamber Choir and Omekali Chishi, were some of the other highlights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
