{"id":53412,"date":"2010-01-08T01:21:41","date_gmt":"2010-01-08T01:21:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2010\/01\/08\/civic-body-tenures-to-end\/"},"modified":"2010-01-08T01:21:41","modified_gmt":"2010-01-08T01:21:41","slug":"civic-body-tenures-to-end","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2010\/01\/08\/civic-body-tenures-to-end\/","title":{"rendered":"Civic body tenures to end"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>With elections to the civic bodies in the state scheduled sometime in February, it is likely that these bodies would be dissolved after their current tenure end.<br \/>\nAccording to sources, the postponement of elections has thrown up a situation which leaves the state government with little option but to take over the functioning of these bodies.<br \/>\nIt may be recalled that the state cabinet had decided to defer elections as demanded by the \u201cAll Nagaland Municipal and Town Council Forum\u2019 comprising of all civic bodies pending review of the Nagaland Municipal Act 2001 .<br \/>\nThe forum of civic bodies also opined that the 33% women reservation issue would  create more confusion and division among sections of society.<br \/>\nThe form demanded that   elections should be put on hold \u201cunless and until these matters are brought to a tangible conclusion,\u201d<br \/>\nSources said that in this regard, the  Dimapur Municipal Council would be dissolved accordingly and the Administrative Officer DMC would take over responsibility of the functioning of the DMC till a newly elected team is constituted.<br \/>\nThe sources said the state government would constitute an advisory committee to advice the Administrative Officer in the functioning of the DMC.<br \/>\n The sources said none of the sitting council members would be included in the proposed advisory committee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With elections to the civic bodies in the state scheduled sometime in February, it is likely that these bodies would be dissolved after their current tenure end.
