\nSo Chelsy Davy was almost unrecognisable as she made her way to Clarence House in a long, demure black ball gown, for a late-night rendezvous with her boyfriend Prince Harry.
\nThe 23-year-old’s outfit was swathes of fabric away from the thigh-skimming skirts she has chosen in the past.
\nElegant shoes, a matching clutch bag and pashmina completed the transformation.
\nPerhaps Prince William’s girlfriend Kate Middleton, 26, should take the credit for the change.
\nRenowned for her classic outfits, Miss Middleton is said to have suggested her friend keep a low profile and avoid paparazzi while out on the town. Or perhaps Miss Davy, studying law at Leeds University, was simply dressing to match her man.
\nHarry, 24, had attended Buckingham Palace banquet for his father’s 60th, hosted by the Queen, on Thursday. Miss Davy and Miss Middleton were not invited, but are on the guest list for Prince Charles’s Highgrove party tonight, organised by Camilla.
\nMiss Davy recently drew admiration from the U.S. socialite Paris Hilton, who met her in London. ‘Chelsy was absolutely stunning and such a sweetheart. We chatted for ages,’ she said.
\nChelsy is better known for her brash dress sense. She was pictured in September wearing a white tracksuit and ‘bling’ jewellery at a chav-themed fancy dress party.
\nThe Prince, 24, and Chelsy have been apart a lot recently after Harry spent a month training with British troops and only returned from serving in Afghanistan in March. And he also took part in a charity motorcycle rally in South Africa with brother Prince William across 1,000 miles of dangerous mountainous terrain last month.
\nPrince Harry and Zimbabwean-born Chelsy started dating four years ago.
\nLast month he rushed back to be at Chelsy’s bedside after she had her wisdom teeth removed in hospital.
