\nGBs& DBs Nagaland Joint Forum convenor A Taku Longkumer and secretary Lungrahei Herie said targeting elderly and responsible citizens was highly uncalled for, especially since GBs were considered as \u201cfather to all communities.\u201d The Forum also said that it would find out the reason behind the killing and appealed to the authority to book the culprits at the earliest.
\nExpressing serious concern over targeting of GBs in recent times, convenor, GBs& DBs Joint Forum, Pikuto Shohe said \u201cGaonburas are respected and honoured by the Naga societies from time immemorial. Therefore doers of such crimes should not consider themselves as Naga.\u201d
\nExpressing shock over the killing, chairman, GBs Union Dimapur, I Pangjung Tsudir said late PP Zeliang was an \u201cupright man, honest, sociable and take his work seriously.\u201d
\nVice president and spokesman, BJP Nagaland, TL Merry on behalf of the State BJP, condemned the cowardly killing of an innocent and simple GB who was also an active member of the BJP. The party demanded immediate enquiry, preferably by CBI, into the killing of the GB.
\nZeme Union Dimapur chairman Nandi Lungalang questioned the group responsible whether Zeliang \u201creally deserved capital punishment for his act (whatever it may be).\u201d The union also urged different factions, groups and the district administration to detect the culprits and take book them as per law of the land.
