{"id":6181,"date":"2008-08-28T01:38:34","date_gmt":"2008-08-28T01:38:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2008\/08\/28\/nuta-flays-vcs-vindictive-act\/"},"modified":"2008-08-28T01:38:34","modified_gmt":"2008-08-28T01:38:34","slug":"nuta-flays-vcs-vindictive-act","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2008\/08\/28\/nuta-flays-vcs-vindictive-act\/","title":{"rendered":"NUTA flays VC\u2019s \u2018vindictive\u2019 act"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>Central Executive Council (CEC) Nagaland University Teachers\u2019 Association (NUTA) has condemned the action of the vice chancellor, Nagaland University, Prof. Kannan in \u201cvindictively\u201d issuing suspension orders against the president and secretary general CEC NUTA, even while Kannan himself was under scanner on charges of corruption, manipulation, financial and appointment irregularities.<br \/>\nNUTA in a press release said the association was shocked that in the midst of smooth running of academic departments and hectic preparations for the end semester examinations and new admissions, the vice chancellor had disrupted the academic atmosphere by issuing the \u201cillegal\u201d suspension orders.<br \/>\nThe association also condemned the deployment of large force of heavily armed security personnel in the university office for the past three days, though the VC, NUTA affirmed, was not under any threat whatsoever from the university employees. \u201cIt is highly questionable that the Vice Chancellor is misusing these police personnel to harass peaceful teachers and employees in the University office\u2026This has led to complete cease-work in all academic departments of the three campuses of Kohima, Medziphema and Lumami,\u201d NUTA said.<br \/>\nNUTA further said Kannan\u2019s statement to the Naga Students\u2019 Federation and the PGSU Kohima on August 26, that he had been cleared by the Fact Finding Committee (FFC) and that the Central Government had given him the green signal to use his powers as the Vice Chancellor, was a blatant lie, which he concocted to mislead the students community and justify his illegal actions.<br \/>\nNUTA claimed that the Ministry of Human Resource Development had categorically clarified to CEC NUTA Tuesday evening that the report of the FFC was still being studied by MHRD, and that it would then be sent to the Visitor. \u201cThe Ministry has also denied giving him any kind of signal or clearance on the said report nor directive for any kind of action,\u201d NUTA added.<br \/>\nThe association termed Kannan\u2019s reported threat to the NSF and PGSU that \u201che is the last VC to be sent by Delhi\u201d as ridiculous and misleading.<br \/>\n\u201cNagaland University is a Central University and after his departure, we (CEC NUTA) are confident that the Central Government at Delhi will provide a more capable and much better Vice Chancellor to build up this University,\u201d NUTA said.<br \/>\nNUTA also lashed out at the State government for giving \u201cfull patronage\u201d to the vice chancellor \u201cin spite of the fact that he has destroyed the University,\u201d and questioned whether political leaders with vested interests were concerned about the future of the younger generation.<br \/>\nThe association appealed to all right thinking citizens of the state to \u201cjoin us in our fight against injustice and corruption and help us rebuild this University into a centre of excellence as it was envisioned to be.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Central Executive Council (CEC) Nagaland University Teachers\u2019 Association (NUTA) has condemned the action of the vice chancellor, Nagaland University, Prof. Kannan in \u201cvindictively\u201d issuing suspension orders against the president and secretary general CEC NUTA, even while Kannan himself was under scanner on charges of corruption, manipulation, financial and appointment irregularities.
