\nNMA: Condemning the rape incident, Naga Mothers\u2019 Association (NMA) said the disgraceful character of some of children seemed to have reached the height of moral degradation, bringing shame to the whole society in general and motherhood in particular.
\nNMA appealed to every Naga parent, community elders and leaders to do some soul-searching exercises as to what was prompting the younger generation of the Naga society to turn to all kinds of social evils, and that too, with luxurious facilities readily available at their disposal.
\n \u201cAre we as parents and leaders of the community not responsible for their wayward behaviours in many ways too?\u201d NMA asked.
\nENWO: Eastern Nagaland Women Hoho (ENWO) said the \u201cpredators\u201d had treated the woman victim as a mere object to satisfy their vulgar desires. ENWO also said the frequent occurrence of rape incidents in the State had brought to light the need for introducing sex education at school level and exploring similar programmes for adults too.
\nWSTH: Western Sumi Totimi Hoho (WSTH) said the incident was an insult to all Naga women and indicated the level of degradation of morality of the present society. \u201cIt is saddening to know that, of late, crime against women have increased sharply and yet there appears to be no real concern or commitment by the concerned authorities to nab the perpetrators of such crimes nor are there any visible effort at taking preventive measures against such crimes,\u201d WSTH said.
\nDWT: Dimapur Watsu Telonjem (DWT) urged the law enforcing agency to expedite the investigation into the rape incident and punish the culprits according to provisions of the law. DWT also appreciated timely action of Dimapur police in apprehending the culprits.
\nNSWON: NSWON, GPRN, said the nature of the rape incident had given a new dimension to the safety of woman in Naga society. \u201cThe intoxication of our Naga youths is going in the direction where morality and human thinking are worst than anything that confront today\u2019s society. And the fact this is happening in the very land of the Nagas with both the criminals and victim as Nagas pain us all the more,\u201d NSWON said.
\nNSF: Naga Students\u2019 Federation (NSF) said the merciless act of desecrating the sanctity of a mother had brought insult of the highest degree to Naga society. \u201cWe insist nothing slighter than the highest degree of punishment which would in turn serve as an exemplary code,\u201d the federation said.
\nWSSU: Western Sumi Students\u2019 Union (WSSU) said it had expelled indefinitely two of the culprits in the rape case who were members of the union. The union also cautioned that any person or agency trying to obstruct the course of justice in the case would be taken as co-accomplice and dealt with by the union.
\nAll Nagaland College Students\u2019 Union, Dimapur Naga Students\u2019 Union, Dimapur Sumi Students\u2019 Union, Kuhuboto Ghakhu Public Organization and Showuba Baptist Church have also condemned the rape incident.
