Minister for Urban Development and Higher Education and the president of Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides, Dr. Sh\u00fcrhozelie Liezietsu on Saturday called upon the Naga Scouts and Guides to embrace the principles of their movement appending with the Naga traditional attributes of hospitality to others and respect to elders. He said that the rich Naga culture and traditions add a distinctive quality to scouters and guiders.\nDelivering the presidential address at the 31st State Council meet 2008 of Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides (NSBSG) at the Life Members’ Conference hall, Bharat Scouts and Guides at Bayav\u00fc Hill, Dr. Sh\u00fcrhozelie said that the NSBSG was an indispensable medium for executing to the society. With the State Government’s declaration of 2008 as “The Year of Capacity Building\u201d, He said that proper guidance and capacity building of the youth should hold the utmost priority in building the society. Dr. Sh\u00fcrhozelie also said that the state association should be self-reliant through the formation of income generating schemes and projects and assured government’s assistance while appealing them to reactivate their units for successful performance of schemes and programmes.
\nDr. Sh\u00fcrhozelie also appealed to the members of the State Council to shower the movement with bold initiatives and constructive ideas for the promotion of a healthier, richer and a happier Nagaland.
\nDuring the programme, former guide, Nancy Kikon was inducted as a vice patron. Presentation of warrants were also given to Orenpemo Ngullie DOC\/S from Wokha district; Keyhon Cheng, S\/M, Government High School, Kasha Tseminyu;Akunuo Keyie C\/C from Mima Baptist Church; Avinuo Keyie G\/C from Mima Baptist Church; Lucy Losa G\/S from St. Mary’s Cathedral School and Viletole G\/C from Baptist Church, Sakhabama.
\nAnnual report from 2007-08 and the annual budget report were presented by Zakieo Metha, State Secretary and K. Peseyie, State Chief Commissioner respectively. Welcome address was delivered by Rev. Beilie\u00fc Sh\u00fcya, vice president, vote of thanks by Nino Iralu, State Commissioner (Guides), while the programme was chaired by Khyomo Lotha, vice president, NSBSG.
\nAs per 2008 census of NSBSG, number of Scouts and Guides totals to 2211, with 1129 Scouts and 1082 Guides having its units all over eleven districts in the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
