{"id":6429,"date":"2008-09-19T01:05:46","date_gmt":"2008-09-19T01:05:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2008\/09\/19\/kmc-chief-deputy-withdraw-resignations\/"},"modified":"2008-09-19T01:05:46","modified_gmt":"2008-09-19T01:05:46","slug":"kmc-chief-deputy-withdraw-resignations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2008\/09\/19\/kmc-chief-deputy-withdraw-resignations\/","title":{"rendered":"KMC chief, deputy withdraw resignations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>In a dramatic development, Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) chairperson Menuovilie Kesiezie and deputy chairperson Thejangulie have both withdrawn their resignation letters earlier submitted to DC Kohima.<br \/>\nIn separate letters dated September 17 addressed to DC Kohima, both Menuovilie and Thejangulie stated that they had earlier on September 4 tendered their resignations owing to \u201csome compelling circumstances.\u201d<br \/>\nHowever, keeping the option open to withdraw the same if the situation so warranted as per Section 14 (3) of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2001, the duo requested the DC to treat their resignation letters as \u201cbeing withdrawn,\u201d and accordingly, issue necessary order to that effect.<br \/>\nFollowing the latest development, commissioner and secretary, Urban Development, Temjen Toy in a letter to DC Kohima stated that after receipt of the written notice of the intention to move for no confidence of the chairperson and deputy chairperson by eleven KM members, the DC had fixed September 5 as the date for carrying out the motion.<br \/>\nThe commissioner also informed that as per Section 14 of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2001, the resignations of both KMC chairperson and deputy chairperson would take effect on expiry of fifteen days after they tendered their resignations (September 4).<br \/>\nHowever, since the resignations had been withdrawn, Toy said after consultation with the Law Department, the intention to move no-confidence motion against Menuovilie and Thejangulie still stood since the eleven members had not withdrawn the motion.<br \/>\n\u201cIn view of this, you (DC) may call a meeting to carry out the No Confidence and further necessary action may be taken as per the outcome of the No Confidence motion,\u201d the letter added.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, DC Kohima Sachopra Vero in a notice vacated the earlier order which had fixed September 19 as the day for election of new chairperson and deputy chairperson.<br \/>\nThe DC also convened a meeting on September 22 at KMC Conference hall at 11 a.m, for consideration of the motion. The DC informed all elected KMC members and ex-officio members to attend the meeting positively.<br \/>\nIt may be recalled both Menuovilie and Thejangulie submitted their resignation letters on September 4, a day before they were to face the \u201cno confidence motion\u201d move by eleven KMC members.<br \/>\nOn September 5, the eleven members in a letter to DC Kohima, unanimously resolved to appoint Vipopal Kintso as chairperson and Khriehu Liezietsu as deputy chairperson of KMC.<br \/>\nWhen contacted, Vipopal Kintso claimed that all eleven members were still \u201cintact and united.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a dramatic development, Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) chairperson Menuovilie Kesiezie and deputy chairperson Thejangulie have both withdrawn their resignation letters earlier submitted to DC Kohima.
