\nState BJP president, Ato Yepthomi has come out openly against what he termed as \u201chighhandedness\u201d on the part of the demolition crew of the DMC led by I. Nungsang Jamir.
\nAt a press meet, Ato charged Nungsang Jamir of demolishing portions of Breeze Restaurant at Nyamo Lotha road on Friday morning without serving any prior notice.
\n \u201cI had never received any notice\u201d Ato maintained and further accused Nungsang of having misused government machineries and police in the name of demolition.
\nAto further accused the DMC member of trespass, causing damages and looting.
\nHe said the DMC member\u2019s people who were moving in and out of the restaurant while the DMC demolition was going on, had looted cash amounting to Rs 20, 000 besides other properties and beverages.
\nHe said further loss and damages by the questionable method and action of the DMC demolition crew was averted due to timely intervention of DMC chairperson, Khekaho.
\nAto said when Khekaho asked Nungsang if prior notice was issued, the latter expressed ignorance.
\n Ato also pointed out a significant point which remained the public\u2019s point of resentment against the DMC demolition crew of being \u201cvery selective\u201d in carrying out the demolition.
\nPointing out that another restaurant was served prior notice, Ato said the same yardstick should be applied to all. He affirmed the destruction was carried out for \u201cpolitical, personal and tribal vendetta\u201d. He lamented that the beautification drive has turned ugly as public of Dimapur are unhappy with the manner in which some of the DMC members were abusing their positions.
