\nLater, talking to mediapersons at DMC office, DMC members involved in the demolition clarified that any demolition undertaken was based on the \u201ccollective decision\u201d of the members.
\nOn stiff opposition from some quarters, DMC chairperson Khekaho Assumi reiterated that the demolition drive was undertaken solely for the welfare and interest of all citizens of Dimapur and not for any personal or other interests.
\n\u201cFor all our efforts, we are still getting brick bats and criticisms. However, we are taking all these in our stride without deviating from our objective to make the city more spacious, cleaner and beautiful,\u201d Khekaho said.

\nDMC in-charge planning Nungsang Jamir also clarified that there was no question of targeting particular buildings for demolition.
