{"id":6457,"date":"2008-09-22T01:05:32","date_gmt":"2008-09-22T01:05:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2008\/09\/22\/kmc-no-confidence-motion-today\/"},"modified":"2008-09-22T01:05:32","modified_gmt":"2008-09-22T01:05:32","slug":"kmc-no-confidence-motion-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2008\/09\/22\/kmc-no-confidence-motion-today\/","title":{"rendered":"KMC no confidence motion today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>Consequent upon the withdrawal of resignation letters by the KMC chairperson and deputy chairperson on September 19, DC Kohima, Sachopra Vero has convened a meeting on September 22 at 10 a.m at the KMC conference hall for the trial of strength.<br \/>\nKMC chairperson, Menuovilie Kesiezie and deputy chairperson, Thejangulie had tendered their resignation on September 4 after 11 councilors moved a no confidence motion against them on August 25 claiming that the former two no longer enjoyed the support of majority.<br \/>\nOn September 5, the 11 councilors submitted a letter to the DC Kohima to unanimously appoint Vipopal Kintso as the chairperson and Khriehu Liezietsu as the deputy chairperson.<br \/>\nNoting that the \u2018no confidence motion\u2019 signed by the 11 councillors has not been withdrawn, DC Kohima has fixed Monday for the trial of strength.<br \/>\nAll the elected members and ex-officio members have been informed to attend the meeting positively.<br \/>\nWhen contacted front runner for the top post, Vipopal Kintso claimed that the 11 councilors who had moved the no-confidence motion were intact and united. \u201cWe are confident of winning the motion on Monday\u201d he said.<br \/>\nIt may be mentioned that there were 19 elected councilors in KMC and six ex-offico members, who have the voting rights, totaling to 25. However, due to sudden demise of a KMC Councilor Keduosanyu on August 26, the elected councilors now stand at 18 members.<br \/>\nA simple majority is required when the voting takes place.<br \/>\nThe ex-officio- members include NPF president and urban development higher education minister Dr, Shurhozelie; Speaker NLA Kiyanilie Peseyie; MLAs Er. Vikho; Dr. Nicky Kire and two MPs \u2013 Lok Sabha MP, W. Wangyuh Konyak and Rajya Sabha MP, H.
