{"id":6468,"date":"2008-09-24T00:41:36","date_gmt":"2008-09-24T00:41:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2008\/09\/24\/govt-to-enforce-teachers-recruitment-policy\/"},"modified":"2008-09-24T00:41:36","modified_gmt":"2008-09-24T00:41:36","slug":"govt-to-enforce-teachers-recruitment-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2008\/09\/24\/govt-to-enforce-teachers-recruitment-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Govt to enforce teachers\u2019 recruitment policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>With the recommendation of the Governor\u2019s Executive Council, the Government of Nagaland has formulated the Teachers\u2019 Recruitment Policy for appointment of teachers at different levels of education as per the guidelines of the National Council for Teacher\u2019s Education (NCTE), New Delhi.<br \/>\nThe Teachers\u2019 Recruitment Policy states that untrained and under-qualified teachers would not be appointed for service in the state.<br \/>\nThe professional qualifications required for teachers in the recruitment policy vary according to the standard of teaching.<br \/>\nFor pre-primary teachers, 10+2 with diploma or certificate in Early Child Education (ECE)\/ Pre Service Teachers Education (PSTE) is required; for primary (classes-I-IV), 10+2 with diploma or certificate in PSTE; for Upper Primary (classes-V-VIII) graduate with B.Ed\/ PSTE; for Secondary level (classes IX-X) graduate with B.Ed; and for Higher Secondary level, Post Graduate and B.Ed.<br \/>\nA handout issued by director of SCERT, Vipralhou Kesiezie, informed that the ratio of untrained teachers in Nagaland had reached 64% whereas the National average of untrained teachers was only 20%.<br \/>\nIt also stated that due to non-formulation of Teachers\u2019 Recruitment Policy for the last many years, the ratio of untrained teachers in the State had reached such a staggering height.<br \/>\nFollowing the new recruitment policy, untrained teachers would be trained through a six months condensed course of PSTE within a time frame of three years, while pre-primary school teachers would be trained through six months certificate course in Early Child Care and Education (ECCE).<br \/>\nAll teachers would also be oriented with the revised syllabus and textbooks in all curricular subjects through in-service training programme of six days duration.<br \/>\nOne year PSTE for elementary teacher would be introduced for three years in view of the immediate requirement of trained of trained teachers in Nagaland. The State Government\u2019s policy decisions on teachers\u2019 education states that teachers found to be under-qualified would be offered the option of availing voluntary retirement or retained for non-academic activities.<br \/>\nIt may be mentioned here that the first phase of six months Certificate for Primary Teachers\u2019 Education (CPTE)\/ Early Child Care Education (ECCE) conducted by the SCERT and DIET, concluded on September 22.
