{"id":69859,"date":"2011-04-13T00:36:28","date_gmt":"2011-04-13T00:36:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2011\/04\/13\/road-jam-hinders-quick-response-fire-deptt-2\/"},"modified":"2011-04-13T00:36:28","modified_gmt":"2011-04-13T00:36:28","slug":"road-jam-hinders-quick-response-fire-deptt-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2011\/04\/13\/road-jam-hinders-quick-response-fire-deptt-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Road jam hinders quick response: fire deptt."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>Traffic congestion and narrow passages prove as main stumbling blocks for the state fire and emergency services for  timely responses to any eventualities in the state capital.<br \/>\u201cIn most of the fire incidents, we respond  in time but often traffic congestion and narrow passages, and lack of  specific information on the location often causes delay in the timely arrival of our personnel and fire tenders,\u201d said SP fire &#038; emergency services (F&#038;ES) Neilasa Sopf\u00fc while addressing the media persons at the concluding function of the six-day demonstration and handling of fire extinguishers held at Kohima local ground today. <br \/>\u201cBecause of our unplanned city, it often hampers our  professionalism to tackle fires\u201d  he said. The SP also disclosed that many times, fire personnel wasted precious time trying in locating the spot since those who provide information neglect to point out the specific location.  <br \/>Another chronic problem in the society, he said was frequent interventions of the public during who used to direct fire fighters or sometimes, snatching hose pipes. He said such acts were an insult to the men and add to the problem while fire fighting. <br \/>The SP urged public to cooperate with firemen who are trained and not to interfere while they are doing their job.   He also informed public to call the control room \u2018101\u2019 in  case of fire incident.  <br \/>Altogether 150 persons from seven districts of the state including people from 44 government departments, 22 schools, 2 commercial institutions and one NGO took part in the six-day training-cum-demonstration programme.<br \/>Three different types of hand held fire extinguishers including Co2, water type and dry chemical powder hand held fire extinguishers were displayed and used for demonstrations. There was positive response to the six-day   programme.  He said though the department did not have hi-tech equipments, it was doing its best.
