He said this at the \u2018national fire service week\u2019 at fire and emergency service station Tuensang. While stressing on the important role and services of firemen in the state, Alem urged the fire personnel to perform their assigned duties with commitment, sincerity and dedication while rendering their service towards humanity. He also said it was important for fire services to be set up in divisional HQ, as fire personnel battle to reach the remote areas on time.
The president also urged the state government to take appropriate measures by providing adequate facilities including manpower so as to function properly for the safety of the people. Also urging the public to co-operate with the department, Alem requested the public to provide accurate details of the location for prompt action.

\u2018National fire week\u2019 in Wokha district got underway from April 14 along with the rest of the world. Speaking on the ceremonial function on April 14, Benathung Lotha, O.C Wokha explained the reasons behind these remarkable and historical events. \u201cOn April 14, 1994 the shipyard in Mumbai was devoured by an inferno in which more than a thousand people were injured. 336 people lost their lives, out of which, 66 were officers and personnel from the fire service department\u201d, he said.
Hence, in remembrance of these dedicated men who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, this period is observed as \u2018Fire service week\u2019, he added. Two minutes silent prayer was also observed remembering and respecting the departed souls.
