Bendang Jamir on Monday summoned two persons at its conference hall for monopoly and indulging in illegal practices in the market. <br \/>The two persons were identified as Merenchuba son of Imtiliba and Imosanen son of Yangerba both from Longmisa village under Mokokchung district. <br \/>It was stated that the duo were dealing illegally (without trade permit) in selling tomatoes on a wholesale basis and were involved in monopolisation of the market particularly in tomatoes.<br \/>It was also said that the duo even went to the extent of warning non local traders not to procure any tomatoes aside from by imposing dire consequences if the traders did otherwise. <br \/>Such practices have been continuing for about a week thereby leading to shortage or escalation of price in tomatoes in the market added the MMC. After confessing to all these charges, the duo was made to sign an agreement wherein it stated they had violated the \u201cstanding order of the MMC banning unauthorized running of market monopolization and have indulged in unethical business practices without valid trade permit\u201d. <br \/>The agreement also made them swear that they would not deal in such illegal activities in future failing which they will be punished as per existing laws. Further the agreement stated that \u201cif any untoward incident happens in tomato retail sector or retailers, they will be held responsible\u201d.
