NUNTSA vice president Akiya Asumi, treasurer Toboka and general secretary Mhonbemo said the association had submitted several representations, charter of demands and ultimatum to the University authority since 2009 but to no avail. The association said \u201cindifferent attitude and step-motherly treatment\u201d of its staffs by university authority for many years has compelled it to take up \u201cdrastic step of indefinite \u2018pen-down\u2019 strike till all demands were met.\u201d The NUNTSA also requested all responsible to extend cooperation in its \u201cfight for justice\u201d. It also appealed to the student community and public to bear with any inconveniences that could arise as a result of the strike.
