{"id":7213,"date":"2008-09-24T00:55:11","date_gmt":"2008-09-24T00:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2008\/09\/24\/cloris-leachman-wows-on-opening-night\/"},"modified":"2008-09-24T00:55:11","modified_gmt":"2008-09-24T00:55:11","slug":"cloris-leachman-wows-on-opening-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2008\/09\/24\/cloris-leachman-wows-on-opening-night\/","title":{"rendered":"Cloris Leachman Wows on Opening Night!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>On the season premiere of Dancing With the Stars, it might have been Brooke Burke who got the top score, but it was 82-year-old Cloris Leachman who truly stole the show when she threw her leg up on the judges\u2019 table after her foxtrot!<br \/>\nAnd when OK! spoke to Cloris backstage after the show, she said her memorable post-dance interaction with the DWTS judges, was not planned. \u201cI forgot four steps and I got a little hysterical after that,\u201d she explained, adding, \u201cI was inspired.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cWhen the audience erupted for her, it was hard for us to hear the music,&#8221; Her partner Corky Ballas said. &#8220;We got distracted by that.\u201d<br \/>\nAnd whether or not she makes it through for another week, Cloris is delighted to be on DWTS at all. \u201cI was turned down twice because I was too old,&#8221; She revealed to OK!. &#8220;Then we had a big meeting and [I had to pass] six doctors\u2019 tests. And I have to have my blood pressure taken before we can even rehearse.\u201d<br \/>\nWhen asked if she\u2019s hoping to get a boyfriend out of the show, Cloris admitted, \u201cI started to think about it. I kept asking Corky why he\u2019s not attracted to me. He won\u2019t tell.\u201d<br \/>\nTurning to her dance partner, she asked, \u201cAm I too old for you? Or am I not your type?\u201d<br \/>\nWithout missing a beat, Corky played straight man, telling her, \u201cIt\u2019s a mystery!\u201d<br \/>\nBackstage, Cloris\u2019 competitors on the seventh season of the hit ABC reality show were marveling at her wacky \u201cperformance.\u201d<br \/>\nRetired football tough guy Warren Sapp, who dazzled the judges with his entertaining cha cha cha, laughed to OK! \u201cCloris was the life of the party! [And] I thought I was a live wire.\u201d The legendary linebacker says he expects viewers to keep the former Mary Tyler Moore star on the show: \u201cCloris isn\u2019t going anywhere for a long time.\u201d<br \/>\nMeanwhile, Ted McGinley told OK! he wasn\u2019t surprised at Cloris\u2019 behavior, having worked with her before on The Love Boat. \u201cWe traveled together on a cruise together,\u201d the actor recalled.<br \/>\n\u201cI spent about a month with her and she\u2019s just like that all the time. She and I were sitting down at dinner one night and she grabbed a plateful of spaghetti and said, \u2018This is pretty good. I\u2019m not sure if it\u2019s done or not.\u2019 And she took the spaghetti and threw it up on the ceiling of the ship and she said, \u2018if it stays, it\u2019s done.\u2019 And of course it dropped down right on top of me. She\u2019s so much fun.
