Tarcisius Toppo, Director of Bosco Communications, Dimapur.<br \/>\n\u201cNewspapers are still popular and dominant medium of Communication in the present society, notwithstanding the technological advances in other forms of communication\u201d said Fr. Nicholas Guangdiat, Principal of Salesian College of Higher Education, stating the rationale behind the organization of the course for fourth consecutive year. The course is aimed at empowering the students in developing their writing skills, which is the result of clear thinking, so as to be a positive influence in the society, he further stated.<br \/>\nThe 40 potential and enthusiastic journalists, hailing from different parts of the country are determined to bring about a change in society through the power of the pen. In the coming days the participants will get a thorough knowledge of the working of a newspaper, the production of news stories and the fundamentals of good writing  &#8211; writing news stories, ingredients of news, news values, lead, headlines, features as well ethical aspects of news writing and responsibilities of a journalists.<br \/>\nThe course is also made very interactive and participatory through well-planned practical exercises in news writing, feature writing, opinion and editorial writing as well as interviewing skills required for reporting.
