Chairman of Nagaland Khadi and Village Industries Board, Dr. Nicky Kire on Thursday said Naga students need to get over \u201cNaga division\u201d or third division in their results and that it should be \u2018struck off\u2019 from the mindset of the people.\nUrging students to compete with others in this competitive society, Dr. Nicky said \u201cstrive, do your best, and do not leave your lessons for tomorrow.\u201d
\nSpeaking as the chief guest at the 42nd Annual Prize Distribution cum parting social of Kohima College Kohima, Dr. Nicky said that college days were a chancy period in students\u2019 life and urged the students to be cautious of drugs, HIV\/AIDS, etc.
\nHe also said that students\u2019 participation in the college boosts their self confidence.
\nDr. Nicky further urged the authority to encourage students not only in academics but nurture them according to their talents. He said that educated unemployment problem in the state could lessen if proper career guidance is given to the students and if they study with a purpose and vision. \u201cIt is not the enrollment that makes a college but the result it produces\u201d, he added. Lauding the teaching faculty, the chief guest remarked \u201cit is through you that your students have become people of importance. That is the reward teachers get.\u201d
\nDelivering the keynote address, principal of KCK, C. Khalong Ao, said that it was time the students went beyond the horizon in search for excellence, and show to their might to the world.
\nHe further said \u201cto face the future, you have to be prepared now.\u201d
\nThe programme was marked by distribution of prizes to students by the chief guest, Dr. Nicky Kire. A song was presented by the outgoing students, while short speeches were delivered by Kevisan, Kezhasezo, vice president, KCSU, Kedilhou Yhome, general secretary, KCSU.
