The name was selected following a six-month-long online contest wherein the customers were invited to name the symbol. \u201cThe name refers to the sweeping changes that Airtel strives to bring towards enriching the lives of its 200 million-plus customers in 19 countries across Asia and Africa,\u201d the company said in a statement. <br \/>\u201cIt is also symbolic of \u2018wave\u2019 of progress and prosperity that Airtel continues to bring in the lives of its customers every day, through its exciting products and services,\u201d it added. The winning entry was by Noida-based engineer Mukesh Chauhan, who is given a free trip to Thailand.
