The famous discreet royal briefly dropped her guard when she was given a teddy bear by a well-wisher during a walkabout in Grimsby yesterday. <\/p>\n
As she was handed the toy, the Duchess, who is five months pregnant, was caught on camera by Sky News saying: \u2018Oh is this for our d…\u2019 before stopping herself mid-sentence.<\/p>\n
She then immediately regains her composure and continues to thank the woman for the gift.
\nHowever, her comment did not go unnoticed by other members of the 2,000-strong crowd who had gathered to catch a glimpse of the duchess. <\/p>\n
As Kate continued up the line, Sandra Cook, 67, is heard to ask: \u2018Did you say my daughter?\u2019
\nThe Duchess initially looks confused but when she realises what Ms Cook meant she smiles and raises an eyebrow before wagging her finger and saying \u2018no, no, no\u2019. <\/p>\n
The royal then looks at the ground and appears to blush as she laughs off the comment.
\nShe then told Ms Cook \u2018we don\u2019t know, so\u2026\u2019 before her sentence tails off and she changes the subject. <\/p>\n
Ms Cook then recounted the brief discussion. She told the Mail: \u2018The lady next to me gave her a teddy bear and I distinctly heard her say \u201cThank you, I will take that for my d….\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u2018Then she stopped herself. I leant over and said to her: \u201cYou were going to say daughter, weren\u2019t you?\u201d <\/p>\n
Diana Burton, 41, who gave Kate the teddy, was too shell-shocked to recall the conversation. But Mrs Cook, who works in a local charity shop and lives in Grimsby, was adamant about what she heard. <\/p>\n
\u2018I only hope that she doesn\u2019t now give birth to a boy or I\u2019m going to look pretty stupid,\u2019 she said.
