NPCC May 10 made serious charges against the state government saying the government \u201csurreptitiously\u201d manipulated the entire deployment of the central forces.
An official statement released by IGP and PRO S.T. Sangtam said ministry of home affairs (MHA) initially decided to deploy 15 CRPF companies for law and order duty in Mokokchung to ensure peaceful conduct of by-election.
\u201cHowever no prior consultation was made with the state government and therefore vide home department fax n.CON\/HC\/1\/1011 dated 23.04.2011 only 10 coys of CRPF have been requisitioned for law and order duty\u2026\u201d the PRO said.
Further, the state police PRO said 10 companies of CRPF was earmarked instead of 15 companies vide MHA fax message No.111-11040\/2\/2011-G dated 02.05.2011 as ordered earlier.
Thus, the police said \u201c5 coys from Manipur and 5 coys which have been on deployment in the state and static guards and escorting of civil vehicles were proposed to withdrawn but these 5 companies would not be withdrawn but kept on stand-by since the state already had 4 coys of Indian reserve battalion at Mokokchung.\u201d
The state police department also said that 5 companies which had arrived from Manipur were deployed at Mokokchung, Zunheboto, Wokha and Tuensang, one company each, and directed the SPs of respective districts to deploy the force for law and order duty and prevent movement of disruptive elements which could infiltrate into Mokokchung to disturb the peaceful conduct of by-election at 26 Aonglenden AC. \u201cThis is a tactical deployment,\u201d said the PRO.
The IGP & PRO also said that one company was deployed at Peren for \u201cIntangki problem.\u201d
The police said the home department again, vide letter No.POL-9\/SF\/5\/99 (Pt-1) directed all the 4 companies to report to SP Mokokchung on April 30 which was complied with three more CRPF companies deployed in Nagaland and kept as stand-by were sent to Mokokchung on May 5.
According to police spokesperson, the SP Mokokchung had detailed two sections of CRPF, six personnel from IR (Mahila) and two civil police from DEF Mokokchung in all the polling stations for security.
\u201cNo IR personnel have been detailed for polling station security duty. All IR personnel were detailed as striking reserve, peripheral coverage etc. And no male IR were deployed for polling booth security duty,\u201d the IGP & PRO clarified.
\u201cTherefore the allegations is not justified. Our deployment chart may be seen,\u201d the police PRO said.
Also, the PRO, quoting reports, said the observer for by-election Nandadulal Bhakat purportedly appreciated the smooth conduct of polling in 26 Aonglenden AC. According to PRO, the observer apparently thanked the police for providing adequate security arrangements during the polling and disclosed that there were no reports of incident.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
