Union Minister of Railways Dinesh Trivedi Monday disclosed that the railways would be constructing big-multi complex amenities at various railway stations in the north east region.These complexes would house restaurants,shops and guest rooms etc in order to provide all facilities to passengers on transit.<\/p>\n
In an exclusive with this Reporter at the airport,prior to his departure, the minister expressed surprise on being informed that while tickets for A\/C coach in Jan Shatabdi at Dimapur were not available, yet they could be procured in the black. On being requested for increase in the quota for Dimapur which existed when the Jan Shatabdi Express originally meant to run between Guwahati and Dimapur but later extended to Jorhat then Furkating, the minister expressed the hope that introduction of Nagaland Express on November 15,2001 between Dimapur and Guwahati would greatly reduce problems.
\nHe also assured that any complaints or suggestions would be looked into.<\/p>\n
When this Reporter brought the issue to the notice of the minister, it was not well liked by the General Manager of the NFR Maligaon headquarters. The GM had to put up a brave front(though affronted) that the quota for Dimapur in the A\/C coach of Jan Shatabdi including non-A\/C seats would be reviewed and subsequently increased as and when needed to meet with the demands from passengers. Earlier, the union railway minister Dinesh Trivedi visited the Special Handloom Expo at Naga Shopping Arcade Dimapur organized by the NHHDC Ltd.Dimapur.<\/p>\n
The minister concluded his two-day visit Monday .Earlier state chief minister Neiphiu Rio hosted breakfast at Noune Resort and later lunch at his Sovima residence for the visiting dignitary and other railway officials. The Dimapur Railway station presented a totally different look on Sunday after railway officials effected a thorough clean up of entire rubbish,dirt and dirt by a road sweeper vehicle. <\/p>\n
