The 3rd Joint quarterly meeting of Integrated Counseling and Testing Centre (ICTC) and District TB Cell (DTC) staff was conducted at District TB officer conference hall, Mokokchung on November 18.<\/p>\n
The main objectives of the meeting was to strengthen the cross referral mechanism for identification of TB in PLHIV (People living with HIV) in the district and to enable the coordinative work between ICTCs and DMCs in the district towards cross referrals. The staff were briefed thoroughly on tuberculosis and its treatment. <\/p>\n
DCO, Kyupise Sangtam said not only HIV positive person are to be referred to DMC but if the person coughs for more than two weeks then he should be referred to undergo Sputum test for TB diagnosis even if the result was negative so he can start DOTs treatment to prevent the disease from spreading further. <\/p>\n
Health staff were also clearly explained about the indicators on referral slips developed by RNTCP to be maintained at ICTC and DMC staff to maintain a separate register for cross referrals of patients sent from ICTCs.<\/p>\n
Kyupise Sangtam, DCO, CHAI also shared on the last quarter agendas and declared that with the coming of Project Axshya, more patients were enrolling at the centers and the health systems in the district with the active support from the health officials and staff and also acknowledged both the service staff for their overall improvement in quality services rendered to the HIV-TB patients. <\/p>\n
The participants were mostly counselors, laboratory technicians and staff of ICTC and DMC.
