{"id":82370,"date":"2011-11-26T00:40:28","date_gmt":"2011-11-26T00:40:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2011\/11\/26\/officers-backbone-of-govt-society-rio\/"},"modified":"2011-11-26T00:40:28","modified_gmt":"2011-11-26T00:40:28","slug":"officers-backbone-of-govt-society-rio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2011\/11\/26\/officers-backbone-of-govt-society-rio\/","title":{"rendered":"Officers backbone of govt. , society: Rio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/AOLIFCBLLDPSQTWWMRND.jpg>Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio Friday said officers were the backbone of government and the society and exhorted them to consider their assignments as privileges to serve the people.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the first general conference of the Lotha Gazzetted Officers\u2019 Association (LGOA) as chief guest at Tiyi Hall, Cherry Town, Wokha, the chief minister also praised the contribution of Lotha officers towards Naga society which he said had been immense while further urging them to work collectively for the upliftment of the unprivileged.<\/p>\n<p>Rio also urged the Lotha officers to be broad minded and come out of their comfort zones to act globally, update their minds and knowledge, develop positive attitude and build good image in the eye of others to bring about transformation in our society.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting that the government\u2019s vision had to be implemented by the officers, the chief minister further called for support and co-operation from the Lotha officers so that public was benefited.<\/p>\n<p>Agriculture minister, Dr. Chumben Murry, who was guest of honor, urged the Lotha officers to be the much needed agents for change as Nagas were still at the crossroads and needed change and refinement even after 150 years of civilization. Opining that the \u2018sun of economic progress\u2019 had started rising in Nagaland, Dr. Murry said certain positive changes seen in the socio- economic growth of the state were the result of the many policies adopted by the DAN government.<\/p>\n<p>Short speeches were also delivered by parliamentary secretaries&#8211; Y. Patton and W. Kithan, and ADGP Thechamo Lotha. There were 560 Lotha officers out of 6330 in the state (8.85%, which was marginally above the Lothas\u2019 population percentage share of the state\u2019s population at 8.39%). The Lotha officer-count would increase substantially if other officers belonging to Central government, PSUs, Army, CPOs, Banks and Financial institutions both within the state and outside, and other cadre officers of All India Services.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Earlier, LGOA president R.F. Lotha delivered the welcome address while planning commissioner and secretary E. Mhonbemo Patton delivered the key-note address. Ex-state chaplain Rev. Yankey Patton offered invocation while PHED chief engineer Mhondamo Ovung proposed the vote of thanks. The chief minister was accompanied by senior cabinet ministers&#8211; M.C.
