KOHIMA, APR 17 (NPN): Achumbemo Kikon former NSF President, who is also the convener of the organizing committee for the forthcoming 24th NSF general conference at Pfutsero from April 27 to 29 said a person is not born a Naga by choice but by blood. He said this while referring to certain objections raised by the all Arunachal Pradesh Students Unions on Nagas from Tirap and Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh wanting to attend the conference.
\n\u201cIf Nagas from Tirap and Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh want to attend the conference organized by their brothers why should the AAPSU object\u201d, he marveled.
\nThe NSF had earlier sent a delegation to Arunachal Pradesh to invite the Nagas from Chabnglang and Tirap districts of Arunachal Pradesh and was hopeful they would take part.
\nBesides Nagas in Arunachal, All Manipur Students\u2019 Union (AMSU), AASU and other student unions from neighbouring states, the NSF has also extended their invitation to Eastern Naga Students Union from Eastern Nagaland (Myanmar) who will be accompanied by a cultural troupe as well as the ENSF, he said.
\nThe NSF conference will be held with the theme \u201cReaching Out\u201d, which has been selected with an aim to reach out not only to the Nagas but also the outside world.
\nHe further elaborated that the theme was chosen keeping in mind the prevailing situation and to foster better relation with mainland India and Myanmar
\n\u201cWhen the peace process is on, reaching out to the neighbouring community, India as a whole and the international community is very important\u201d, he added.
\nHe also admitted that the functioning of the NSF was deeply rooted in the Naga struggle, and that the forthcoming conference would send a strong message to the Nagas that they must come to an understanding as the world is moving at a fast pace. Achumbemo also reminded the conference is held every two years comprising gathering of not only students but Nagas as a whole with elections held for new office bearers.
\nHighlighting the programme, the organizing committee also said the conference will start on April 27 with the unfurling of the flag followed by introductory session by resource person former PCCF Nagaland D K Zeliang (Retd IFS).
\nThe inaugural function will be followed on April 28 at 10am with former chief minister of Mizoram Zoramthanga as chief guest and sitting Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary as special guest.
\nDebate competition would be held on the topic \u201cNagas are economically stable\u201d and followed by classical piece and quarter ensemble where chief secretary Lalthara will grace the session.
\nOn the third day, there will be a cultural regal from 9.30 am which will be graced by minister for road and bridges Kaito Aye and special guest Dr. Samujjal Bhattacharjee, Chairman NESO.
\nThis will be followed by election of new terms of office bearers and valedictory session to be graced by minister for H&FW Kuzholuzo Neinu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
