Minister for school education, Nyeiwang Konyak on Thursday announced that uniforms for government schools for both primary and middle school students will be provided shortly in the state.
\nAddressing the golden jubilee celebration of GMS, Longkhum, Mokokchung as chief guest, Nyeiwang said issuing uniforms to students in government schools was part of the government\u2019s effort to re-vamp education system.
\nWhile revealing the department has taken up massive exercise to ensure that teachers are well trained and qualified, he however regretted that out of 9,000 teachers  in government schools, only 30% were trained with required qualification, and insisted teachers should be skilled in pre-service teachers education, diploma in education, B. Ed, etc.
\nOn issue of bogus teachers, Nyeiwang said after 3 years of rigorous investigation into the case, the department just about succeeded in clearing the mess where only genuine teachers would be redeployed.
\nStating that revamping teaching-learning process not only lies with government, Nyeiwang said it required close cooperation of village education committees and village authorities.
\nHome Minister, Imkong L. Imchen in his speech challenged Longkhum villagers to set their target to produce illustrious students and leaders as they did in the past.
\nAccording to an official bulletin, the celebration was attended by Toshipokba MLA, senior officers from school education department, district officials and villagers.<\/p>\n
