The matter surfaced when the child\u2019s health deteriorated and rape confirmation by medical authorities.<br \/>\nDuring a brief programme at Clock Tower, Phek town various public leaders including the presidents of Chakhesang mothers\u2019 association, Phek area public organisation, Phek town Puchuri union, Phek town Chakhesang students\u2019 union and former woman president, Avolu Chizo addressed the gathering and called for public awareness during such anti- social element occurrence.<br \/>\nLater, the rallyists proceeded to DC\u2019s office, carrying banners and ply cards, and submitted a memorandum to DC demanding early action against the culprit. <br \/>\nThe DC assured the public to take up the case soon and award befitting punishment to the culprit as per the nature of crime. <br \/>\nPhek SP, W. Krome and 5th NAP commandant, Vechipa Vese also strongly condemned the crime and further called upon all sections of people to cooperate during any such occurrence. <br \/>\nIn Meluri, about 2000 people, mostly women, took out rally against the rape incident. The rally was organized by Pochury public forum, Pochury mothers\u2019 association and Pochury GB union.<br \/>\nThe protestors later submitted a representation address to deputy commissioner Phek was submitted to ADC Meluri.<br \/>\nThey demanded that severe punishment, in the form of capital punishment, be awarded to the culprit. The Pochury public cautioned that failure to concede to their demand the public would be compelled to ask the authority to hand over the culprit so the accused could be put on trial as per Naga customary law. <br \/>\nMeanwhile, the Phek district GBs\u2019 association, in a statement, condemned the heinous crime of rape and appealed to the responsible authorities to award severe punishment to the \u201ccriminal\u201d.<br \/>\nThe association stated that deplorable and inhuman act of Ravohu has caused serious physical injury and mental trauma to the victim.
