Singson has issued a clarification on the status of the cease fire between the NSCN and the government of India in the light of Nagaland DGP K. Kire’s interview with a press agency in Kohima.
Asserting that there appeared to be “a slight confusion” on the status of the ceasefire due to “certain technical problems” faced by the state administration with regard to the cease fire with the NSCN since it was a subject of the Indian government, Singson however said a “responsible police officer in his position” was expected to “keep abreast with the ground situation and not act like a loose cannonball.”
Clarifying the matter, Singson reminded that the cease fire signed between the NSCN and the government of India on April 29,2001 was “only NSCN” with no initials as “K or Khaplang” implying it belonged to “no man”.
He said the cease fire in 2001 was signed after “sustained diplomatic efforts” of then ‘C-in-C ‘Gen’Khole and general secretary N. Kitovi Zhimomi “along with authorities based in Nagaland”covering the state of Nagaland.
Apprising the DGP that “those shouting Khaplang’s name in Nagaland” were oblivious to the state of affairs in Burma, Singson pointed out that out of 30 elected members from Naga areas in the Burmese parliament, ten were from Khaplang’s own constituency. He said, therefore, Khaplang “has clearly washed his hands off the Naga political struggle.”
Singson termed the statement, “new faction” that was occupying the NSCN (K) designated camp at Khehoi,as “most irresponsible and an utterly sacrilegious view”. He said the designated camps at Khehoi, Athibung, Samphure and Kuthure/Wangtho (temporarily vacated for relocation) were “fully geared up to face any eventuality.
Further, expressing the hope that the DGP would appreciate the “working mechanism of the GNRP/NSCN as a revolutionary government”, Singson reminded that GPRN/NSCN headed by chairman ‘Gen’Khole, a veteran of 57 years in the Naga national struggle and general secretary N. Kitovi Zhimomi, who sacrificed “28 years of his best life” for the Naga nation “can never be called a new faction.”
Singson further clarified that on November 2007, when national workers from the NSCN(K)and NSCN(IM) merged, leaders who deliberated at meeting in Kuhuboto on November 28,2007, resolved to do away with all initials and adopted “only GPRN/NSCN’ for use and make a distinction in the media. Therefore, Singson said, the nomenclature NSCN (K) “does not exist as it was discarded at Kuhuboto in 2007.”
He called upon Nagas against allowing their judgments to “be dictated by few runaway youngsters occupying Suruhuto camp and beating their drums to seek attention” and who were in fact, the “first signatories” in favour of Khaplang’s impeachment and expulsion on June 7 for having violated the National Yehzabo(constitution)irreparably after which the national assembly “had to restore it in the interest of the Naga people.”

For More Updates, follow us on

 and

GPRN/NSCN supervisor, Cease Fire Supervisory Board C.
