NSCN\/GPRN(Khaplang) has said the Naga people\u2019s longing for peace and security has been \u201cshattered by the six(6)months old coalition\u201d at Khehoi and urged various civil societies, law enforcement agencies, Indian paramilitary etc who accused it of violating cease fire ground rules to be \u201cacquainted with\u201d the ground realities. <\/p>\n
In a statement, the MIP maintained that \u201crecent spurt in violence in several pockets of Nagaland indeed has to do with non-observance of CFGR by Khehoi gang.\u201d<\/p>\n
MIP said the genesis of the conflict and consequent chain reaction threatening peace and security of the people needed to be \u201claid bare before the Nagas\u201d to ponder over so as to hold accountable, those who were responsible.<\/p>\n
It maintained that the flash point was the unilateral abrogation of the Covenant of Reconcilation (CoR)by those in Khehoi, that ignited ongoing armed clashes leading to loss of lives including injury to several innocent civilians. <\/p>\n
MIP said the \u201cbrazen attacks\u201d on the proposed CFSB office of the NSCN\/GPRN (Khaplang) by Khehoi campers on December 19 at Naharbari \u201cserved as the catalyst\u201d adding, that the act was in gross violation of not only the CFGR but also detraction on the commitment to the CoR. <\/p>\n
On the incidents at Zunheboto, the MIP maintained that it was a direct outcome of \u201cillegal militarization of civilian populated area of Amiphoto colony by \u201ckhehoi gang since the past five-six months.\u201d<\/p>\n
It said Amiphoto is purely civilian section and neither a designated camp nor officially approved location to be occupied by any armed groups. However, it said, contrary to assertion to uphold the CFGR, Khehoi group, instead of being evicted were \u201cbeing provided with round the clock security blanket by Assam Rifles,IRBs and civil societies ever since deterioration of situation.\u201d.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, it said the NSCN(K)and NSCN(I-M) were not even permitted to station themselves around vicinities of villages and towns.It therefore, questioned civil societies, district administration, paramilitary, state government and the government of India on whose patronage or arrangement or discretion was \u201cKhehoi gang being allowed to occupy the public habitat for more than a year?\u201d<\/p>\n
MIP averred that the cause of the conflict and tension in Zunheboto was due to the presence of more than fifty(50) armed cadres of GPRN\/NSCN in Amiphoto. It said that normalcy could be restored only if \u201cthe Khehoi gang\u201d was asked to immediately vacate the colony and if not, then the NSCN(K) and NSCN(I-M)also have the right to maintain status quo in Zunheboto town and the district as per the cease fire agreement with the Centre and the CoR.<\/p>\n
It also reminded the civil societies that designated camps of the NSCNs were the exclusively a matter pertaining to the cease fire agreement between the government of India with the NSCNs.<\/p>\n
It said the camps set up at certain convenient locations were \u201cpurely to expedite peace and political process\u201d and therefore asked civil societies to restrain from unnecessarily meddling in the peaceful existences of the camps just because of the \u201cillegal intrusion by Khehoi camp in the off limit public areas.\u201d <\/p>\n
Sumi bodies ask NSCN (K) to withdraw notice<\/span> In a joint press statement, the Sumi Hoho president H.Hesso and secretary K.Himahito Chishi asserted Hoho equally respected all the factions and always looked forward to unity and peace.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Sumi Hoho\u2019s platform is intact on our part to safeguard the interest and welfare of the Sumi community and whatever decisions arrived at for the welfare of the Sumis were the collective decisions and whatever official statements made by any Sumi Hoho office bearers was on behalf of the Sumi Hoho and not personal,\u201d said the signatories.<\/p>\n Also, regretting recent factional clashes, the Hoho told all factions that differences among them was a \u201cnarrow approach\u201d and would never solve the \u201cNaga problems\u201d, adding that \u201cbloodshed\/clashes is not in favour of Sumis and Naga general public.\u201d Recalling how Zunheboto district was declared \u201cpeace zone\u201d, the hoho said it was declared at its general session (Baghi Hoho) on July 15, 2008, which was reaffirmed on July 7, 2011 urging all the cadres of various factions to withdraw from Zunheboto and immediately confine to their respective designated camps.<\/p>\n The Hoho also stated that during its \u201cBaghi hoho\u201d on August 9, 2011, it was resolved to urge the responsible authority to withdraw all the designated camps from the district.<\/p>\n In response to their appeal, the hoho said the Chairman of CFSB\/CFMC on August 18, 2011, instead of shifting the designated camps, appealed to the Sumi Hoho to \u201ccooperate\u201d.<\/p>\n With no sign of adhering to cease-fire ground rules and escalation of factional clashes, the Hoho said Sumi frontal organisations December 27 organised a \u201csilent procession\u201d and sent a representation to the union home minister for removal of designated camps from the district. <\/p>\n Meanwhile, the Sumi Hoho has convened an executive council meeting January 5, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Zunheboto headquarters \u201cto deliberate the matter relating to present situation.\u201d With regard to this, it has informed all executive members, frontal heads and office bearers to attend the proposed meet.<\/p>\n WSH:<\/span> Also, the WSH strongly condemned the fratricidal killings that was taking place \u201cin our midst.\u201d \u201cA general consciousness is emerging which considers the society as a single organism and realizes that a society in war with itself is doomed as violence begets violence and nothing good is achieved for the society,\u201d remarked the WSH.<\/p>\n WSKH: <\/span> According to WSKH president Apeto Assumi any group or faction should not personally target an individual just because the person represented the society.<\/p>\n He also said any faction or group targeting an office bearer of people\u2019s organization should be condemned by all right thinking citizens \u201cas it is ultimately questioning the integrity of the society and any group cannot ask a member of an apex body to resign\u201d.<\/p>\n WSYF: <\/span> The WSYF president Kakiye Zhimo and general secretary Mughavi Chishi, in a joint statement, asked the warring factions to stop harassing and targeting the people particularly the office bearers of tribal Hohos \u201cfor playing the mediator\u2019s role between the factions.\u201d<\/p>\n The WSYF maintained that Hoho and its office bearers were bound to approach the authorities of any faction for the welfare and in the interest of the people, which the youth front said \u201cshould not be misconstrued as being in favour of a particular faction.\u201d Stating that \u201cserving the nation\u201d was serving the people, the front, therefore, said serving caution notices and warning was \u201ccontrary to their own ideology.\u201d<\/p>\n The WSYF also appealed to the NSCN (K) authority to \u201crecollect the humanitarian deed\u201d carried out in its favour by Kitoho during the release of an NSCN (K) cadre, one Hemail Sumi, from the custody of the GPRN\/NSCN at Khehoi Camp Oct. 8, 2011.<\/p>\n It stated that during that \u201cgoodwill mission\u201d Kitoho Rotokha had represented the Sumi Hoho and not the NSCN (K). \nDIMAPUR, DEC 30 (NPN): Terming the recent allegation against its vice president Kitoho S. Rotokha by NSCN (K) as \u201cunfounded and baseless\u201d, the Sumi Hoho Friday \u201cstrongly\u201d urged the NSCN (K) authority to \u201cimmediately withdraw\u201d their allegation in order to maintain congenial atmosphere.<\/p>\n
\nWhile pointing out that Sumi Hoho vice president has been \u201csingled out and targeted\u201d, the Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) Friday appealed to the NSCN (K) to reconsider its \u201ccautionary approach\u201d directed against hoho vice president in the larger interest of the general public. A statement issued by WSH president said civil society leaders were mandated to speak on behalf of the people and whatever said or uttered reflected the general conscience of the populace.<\/p>\n
\nIn another statement, the Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH), while condemning the caution notice served on Sumi Hoho vice president by NSCN (K), said Kitoho represented the whole Sumi tribe and was working for the general interest of the Sumis and not for his personal interest or for any group or faction.<\/p>\n
\nFlaying the caution notice served on Vice President, Sumi Hoho by the NSCN (K), the Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) Friday termed it as \u201cunwarranted\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nAccording to WSYF no government or faction was above the people as per democratic norms. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cHowever, he was accused of representing the NSCN (K) by the GPRN\/NSCN (Khehoi Camp),\u201d stated that WSYF.<\/p>\n
