A team of five members of Legislators Forum on AIDS (LFA) led by Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Kuzholuzo, deputy speaker Ralanthung, MLA Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, MLA Joshua Achumi and, state coordinator Dr. Vinito L. Chishi, visited Sydney and Melbourne from April 17-23.\nThe team visited and studied different methods of Harm Reduction (HR) in relation with drugs users, prevention of HIV, program for stimulant users, Hepatitis-C, counseling services, condom use and vending machines.
\nAccording LFA – Nagaland coordinator policy development and research for public services was one important aspect the team learnt. Another aspect was medical services including needle syringe program, sexual health, drop-in centre; outreach NSP and health at night which was impressive.
\nThe team also visited private services such as Pharmacotheraphy for opiate users\u2014prescribing and dosing with successful coordinated response from the clients, public and government sector.
\nTeam also visited national drug and alcohol research centre which was very educative and applicable to Nagaland.
\nThe team also attended a powerpoint presentation and lecture by Professor Alex Wodak at St. Vincent Hospital on Portugal\u2019s decriminalization policy which was relevant to Nagaland.
\nMeanwhile, the team expressed gratitude to Professor Alex Wodak and his Assistant Leah McLeod who were the key persons to facilitate the team at the one week trip. Other staff included Dr. Craig, Dr. Anthony and Allan Wilson. The team returned on April 26.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
