{"id":8490,"date":"2011-05-04T01:23:45","date_gmt":"2011-05-04T01:23:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2011\/05\/04\/nwc-appeal-on-33-reservation\/"},"modified":"2011-05-04T01:23:45","modified_gmt":"2011-05-04T01:23:45","slug":"nwc-appeal-on-33-reservation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2011\/05\/04\/nwc-appeal-on-33-reservation\/","title":{"rendered":"NWC appeal on 33% reservation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>Nagaland Women Commission (NWC) Tuesday while appreciating the urban development minister Dr. Sh?rhozelie Liezietsu for taking pain in visiting various districts on 33% reservation for women, expressed confidence that government would ensure implementation of the Amendment of the Municipal Act in toto as passed in the Assembly.<br \/>\nThe commission\u2019s chairperson Sano Vamuzo, in a statement, said objective of reservation of seats for women was to give space to women in the decision making civic bodies so enable them to contribute their best to the society. \u201cIt should not be taken as men versus women for we are inseparable,\u201d said Sano Vamuzo.<br \/>\nThe commission also made \u201cfervent\u201d appeal to all right thinking people to bring about true equality in the society by supporting the entry of women in the decision making in all towns and municipalities.<br \/>\nStating that the whole world realizing the importance of gender equity and rights are marching ahead, the NWC chairperson said state government has also positively enacted 33% reservation for women in the municipality and town council. <br \/>\n\u201cThis bold and positive step should be appreciated by one and all,\u201d she said adding civic bodies were modern and has nothing to do with traditional village\/tribes\/customary institutions.<br \/>\n\u201cHence, any tribe or organization should not oppose but encourage the Naga women to take up such responsibility, if we mean business to march with the rest of the world,\u201d the commission underlined, and further urged the government to implement this Act as the Act has been already passed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nagaland Women Commission (NWC) Tuesday while appreciating the urban development minister Dr. Sh?rhozelie Liezietsu for taking pain in visiting various districts on 33% reservation for women, expressed confidence that government would ensure implementation of the Amendment of the Municipal Act in toto as passed in the Assembly.
