Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) has expressed utter dismay over the reported occupation of a school by the security forces at Urra village in Dimapur district.<\/p>\n
In a press statement, the NPMHR, Nagaland convenor Atoho Aloto Kiho said it should come as \u201cno big surprise to a keen observer that the military force of the largest democracy in the world has once again demonstrated its propensity to defile the most sacrosanct of secular institutions.\u201d <\/p>\n
The NPMHR said the occupation of the school at Urra village and the \u201carbitrary frisking\u201d of vehicles and civilians hinted at \u201ca sinister motive by the government of India to undermine and weaken the decade and half old peace talks with the Nagas.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Naga Rights group expressed support to the authorities of Urra village \u201cin their legitimate effort to resume normal village life without the hindrance of camouflaged, booted and gun-totting strangers watching over their every move.\u201d <\/p>\n
Further, the NPMHR strongly appealed to the Nagaland government, the Ceasefire Monitoring Board and the ministry of home affairs, \u201cto dialogue at the earliest so that the anomaly causing uncalled-for suffering to the innocent villagers is addressed at the earliest.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, commenting on the standoff between the NSCN (K) and the GPRN\/NSCN at Athibung, the NPMHR urged the \u201cmilitary commands\u201d of both the factions to exercise \u201cutmost restraint from confrontations.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cMovement is especially concerned over the current standoff at Athibung and strongly implores the concerned authorities to desist from endangering human lives,\u201d said the Naga Rights group. <\/p>\n
In the meantime, the NPMHR said lauded and awaited the fruition of the press statement of the NSCN (K) that two cadres of the GPRN\/NSCN who were being held under \u201chouse arrest\u201d were safe and sound and would be released soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
