Therie’s statement wherein he described various speeches of NPF leaders as lacking future vision and being stuck to the past, NPF press bureau said Therie’s statement were the best examples of “self-contradiction in political arena.”
NPF reminded that in 2002, Therie was dismissed as minister from the Jamir-led Congress government on disciplinary grounds, and despite writing “9 to 10 pages” to explain position to the Disciplinary Action Committee but expelled from the Congress.
It said after expulsion, Therie “immediately went on an anti-Congress and anti-Jamir tirade using the most abusive and unparliamentary language”. NPF said Therie claimed that one of the primary reasons for his anti-Jamir stand was the publication of the “Bedrock of Naga Society” authored by Jamir and also Sonia Gandhi’s foreign national issue.
NPF said after the first DAN government came to power in 2003, Therie was made finance minister but due to “his indigestible style of functioning” and mismanagement of funds was dropped from the ministry on popular demand. It said despite submission of his “4 to 5” page write up to plead his position; Therie was expelled from the NPF.
NPF went on to say that Therie coined the phrase – DAN was a “people’s government”. As finance minister he demanded that S.C.Jamir and the Congress publicly apologize and reject the ‘Bedrock of Naga society’ or else the Naga people would never forgive Jamir and the Congress. It said Therie accused Jamir “of lacking in vision” and that “Jamir era in Naga politics was over.”
Today, NPF said Therie has changed his political stand, principal and color and “has become the chief agent for S.C. Jamir. It said Therie in defending Jamir, was repeating the same accusations against the NPF adding such a “contradictory behaviour is ridiculous” that explained his level of political maturity and capability.
NPF said Therie and “his new found mentor” must realize that people are not fools and cannot be taken for granted each passing hour of the by election. It pointed that Therie lost election in 2008 then the Rajya Sabha election and the 2009 by elections adding; he does not know where he stood today.
NPF asserted that the people of Aonglenden would not be swayed “by the contradictory utterances” of one rejected even by the voters of his own district and constituency.
It reminded that as finance minister in the NPF-led DAN government, Therie’s views on the affairs of Nagaland were “utterly negative”.
Maintaining that the Centre would not sanction even a rupee to any states unless it was convinced about the performance and genuineness of investments, NPF said Nagaland was among the best performing states in India in many of the flagship programmes as justified by “various prestigious national awards for exemplary implementation of welfare programmes.”
It said NPF-led DAN acknowledged that since Nagaland is a consuming and not producing state, it undertook the Herculean task of promote people’s economy and cited the NE Agri Expos at Dimapur as successes towards economic stability of the state. Further it said, the DAN government also initiated improvement and innovation for cultivation and introduction of soil friendly food crops, cash crops etc for better harvest with latest technology and machinery that percolated to the grass root level.
Other achievement it pointed were improvement of roads, construction of office and residential buildings and agri-link roads which have “mushroomed in all districts” during the 8-year rule of DAN.
NPF rejected the allegation that the DAN government acted in a dictatorial manner with government employees. It said the retirement from service of government employees was done only after thorough study and deliberations with civil societies and employees for the well being of the people and the youths in particular. The NPF also said DAN government had also done much for the uplift of the youth in all fields during its 8-year rule “as never before”
Reiterating that the vision and policies of the DAN government were clear, NPF claimed that in the eyes of the people, DAN was unbiased in striving for an honourable settlement of the “Indo-Naga political problem” acceptable to all. NPF slammed Therie for “voicing his opinion and comment” on the history of the Naga problem and said he only ended up projecting himself as one who strongly opposed the people’s efforts for Naga reconciliation and solution.
Further it said the memories of lawlessness, killings and gun battles that rocked Nagaland are still fresh in the minds of the people but after the cease fire in 1997, the NPCC should not forget that despite being in absolute majority, the Congress failed to address the situation. NPF said after DAN came to power Nagaland became one of the most peaceful states in India and credited itself as facilitator of the “ongoing Indo-Naga peace process” for being the architect of the peaceful atmosphere.
NPF also mentioned that though the 33% reservation for women has yet to find unanimity despite rounds of talks with various sections including political parties, DAN was pursuing its enactment through consensus.

Reacting to former finance minister K.
