Cultivation of millet: <\/span>Training-cum-demonstration on \u201ccultivation of millet\u201d was conducted for participants from 11 Self Help Groups (SHGs) by ATMA Kuhuboto Block at APMC Hall, Kuhuboto town. <\/p>\n

Participants were imparted a live demonstration on millet cultivation by resource person, Toivi swu A.O and BTT Convenor (ATMA), Kuhuboto Block. <\/p>\n

He encouraged the participants to grow millets as it involved less labour and can also be stored for more than a year. Millet has many different varieties with different colours with some of sticky in nature; millet is also used in making wine and for medicinal purpose like diabetes.<\/p>\n

Rich vitamins found in millet are niacin, folic acid, calcium, zinc, potassium etc. India is the world\u2019s leading producer of millet. However, India now uses majority of its millet harvest as fodder and for poultry feed applicants.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the keynote address was presented Ahovi Sema, DAO and PD (ATMA) Dimapur and the training programme was chaired by Akavi Holo, BTM (ATMA) Kuhuboto Block.<\/p>\n

Cocoon preservation: <\/span>A two-day farmers training and demonstration was conducted by ATMA-Dimapur, Dhansiripar Block on February 6 and 7 at FIAC Office Dhansiripar. The training was conducted in the field of Horticulture, Sericulture and Soil conservation.
\nOn February 6, resource person Nechulu ASO & BTT member demonstration on \u2018Cocoon Preservation\u2019. <\/p>\n

He stressed the importance on seed cocoon preservation and encouraged the farmers on Eri rearing. On February 7, Talimongba, AHO & BTT member gave training on \u2018Banana Intercropping with Turmeric\u2019 and demonstrated on banana planting and also on pest management. <\/p>\n

He also briefly explained on banana tissue culture to the farmers which is disease resistant, flowers early and bears large uniform bunch. Training and demonstration on \u2018Vermicomposting Technology\u2019 was delivered by Hekishe SDO (SC), Jalukie to different SHG\u2019s of Dhansiripar Block. <\/p>\n

Altogether 100 farmers including SHG\u2019s from different villages along with BTT and AES members from Dhansiripar Block participated. <\/p>\n

Agronomic practices of Eri Silk host plants and its management:<\/span> <\/span>ATMA Wokha Block has organized a Community Interest Groups (CIG\u2019s) to the farmers of Old Riphyim Village on February 3 followed by demonstration on \u201cAgronomic practices of Eri Silk host plants and its management\u201d at Old Riphyim Village.<\/p>\n

During the technical session N. Tsenyimo Humtsoe, BTT Convenor, ATMA Wokha Block as a resource person had demonstrated upon the CIGs basing on the theme \u201cAgronomic practices of Eri Silk host plants and its management\u201d. <\/p>\n

Speaking to the CIGs, he had explained on how to identify the various Eri Silkworm, which plants they eat and which season the seeds were given. He further, encouraged the farmers to take keen interest in rearing the Eri silkworm and make a benefit from it.
