Chief minister Neiphiu Rio Monday expressed regret that the Vigilance commission has violated the rules for which the interview for the posts of SI held earlier had to be cancelled and the fresh recruitment conduected. <\/p>\n
Out of the 28 posts created in the Vigilance Commission (VC) in 2010, 18 posts of various categories were utilized for promotion and regularisation of contract appointees while the remaining 10 posts were advertised for direct recruitment. <\/p>\n
However, the recruitment for the posts of SI fell within the purview of NPSC after the last revision of pay (above the cut-off scale pay of Rs. 4125-6475 per month) and the commission could not recruit the SI posts like in the past as change in policy was required. Rio said while answering to a question. <\/p>\n
The process for recruitment was initiated by the commission before the change of policy could be effected. Moreover, the advertisement of the posts was issued only to one local newspaper and had no adequate coverage for which, the interview held earlier had to be cancelled as any other course may have led to legal infirmity, Rio said. <\/p>\n
Opposition member SI Jamir who raised the question in his supplementary pointed out that two posts were appointed and regularised but why the government remained silent he asked.
