Idgah Committee, Dimapur (ICD) has accused Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) of \u201cblackmailing\u201d the Muslim community for vested interest in an effort to recover lost ground.<\/p>\n
In a statement, ICD vice president M.A. Ahad said a meeting held on March 17 deliberated issues related to activities of some members of MCD and unanimously resolved the council did not have \u201cany locus-standi\u201d to interfere or address any issues pertaining to the Muslim community in Dimapur.<\/p>\n
It may be mentioned that MCD had asked Mulsims of Dimapur to approach the council with certain documents as part of a registration drive of all \u201cbonafide Muslims\u201d in Dimapur municipality. MCD had directed all Muslims to produce Panchayat certificates from their native village before the registration begins.<\/p>\n
Reminding that MCD has been rejected and dissolved by an assembly of six to seven thousand Muslims in 2012, ICD said MCD president A. Hannan Tapadar and working president A. Rahman were also \u201cex-communicated.\u201d<\/p>\n
The meeting called by ICD has now resolved to oppose the same by not cooperating and urged local administration not to entertain MCD on behalf of Muslim community and stop the \u201csporadic activities\u201d of MCD. <\/p>\n
It also decided to approach the government of Nagaland through Dimapur Muslim Public Forum on any issue for the welfare of the community. <\/p>\n
ICD further added that the interference of some individuals under the MCD banner in the religious places of Muslims was \u201cblasphemous.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
