{"id":90204,"date":"2013-03-23T01:13:25","date_gmt":"2013-03-23T01:13:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2013\/03\/23\/governor-urges-nagas-to-formulate-a-vision\/"},"modified":"2013-03-23T01:13:25","modified_gmt":"2013-03-23T01:13:25","slug":"governor-urges-nagas-to-formulate-a-vision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2013\/03\/23\/governor-urges-nagas-to-formulate-a-vision\/","title":{"rendered":"Governor urges Nagas to formulate a vision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/BWMCWECZOMXAEJNBYXKM.jpg>Former CBI director and DGP Himachal Pradesh Dr. Ashwani Kumar, who was sworn-in as Governor of Nagaland on March 21, urged the people to formulate a vision for Nagaland based on moral and ethical values.<\/p>\n<p>The Governor buttressed his clarion call with a quote from a biblical verse (Proverbs 29:18)&#8211; \u201cWhere there is no vision, people perish\u201d, stated a communiqu\u00e9 issued by PRO to the Governor and joint director IPR Dominic Yasokie.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Expressing happiness on assuming office as Governor, Kumar also gave a one-line message to the people in Nagamese: \u201cMoi yate aha to beshi khushipai-ashe.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Governor Ashwani also reposed full faith in the people, in the wisdom of the elders, in the energy of the youth and in the resilience of women for attaining a lasting peace to the decades-old conflict.<\/p>\n<p>Further, the Governor called for deeper self introspection amidst the age of rapid changes and transitions in the world and to seek inspiration from the Scriptures or words of wisdom of the sages.<\/p>\n<p>He also quoted Mahatma Gandhi\u2019s idiom: \u201cWhere there is love, there is life\u201d and \u201cEven if you are in a minority of one, the truth is always the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ashwani Kumar also recalled the warmth and hospitality of the Nagas during his visit to the state in 1980s. <\/p>\n<p>He said Nagaland with its beautiful hilly terrain, was similar to Himachal Pradesh and this made him feel a sense of \u201chomeliness.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Making an appeal for cooperation and support from all sections of the society, Kumar also assured he would work for the welfare of the people and for peace.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>He also opined that talents of the youths should be channelized into \u201ccreative endeavours\u201d and cited achievers like late Major N. Liny\u00fc and Ms Chekrovolu Swuro as examples. <\/p>\n<p>The Governor expressed gratitude to the people of Nagaland and the state government for the warm reception accorded to him and his family in Dimapur and Kohima and wished the people of Nagaland, peace, prosperity, good health and happiness.<\/p>\n<p>The PRO also informed that the Governor\u2019s message to the people of Nagaland delivered on Friday would be telecast on DDK at 6.30 p.m. and broadcast on AIR, Kohima at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-weight: bold;\">Governor to meet media<\/span><br \/>\nDr. Ashwani Kumar would also be meeting media at 11 a.m. at Raj Bhavan, Kohima Saturday.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, on Thursday, state chief minister Neiphiu Rio hosted a dinner in honour of Governor Ashwani Kumar. <\/p>\n<p>In his speech, the Governor said \u201cNagaland may be the 16th State of the Indian Union in the order of formation, but Nagaland is the most beautiful State of India as indicated by the Government and we must make Nagaland a peaceful State in the country through progress and prosperity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his speech chief minister Neiphiu Rio said with DAN returning to power for the third successive term, expressed confidence that with the Governor\u2019s guidance, the state would head for the future.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Kohima Municipal Council and the Angami Public Organization have organized a Civic Reception in honour of Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Governor of Nagaland on March 25, 11 a.m. at the NBCC Convention Centre, Kohima. <\/p>\n<p>The organizers have cordially invited all citizens to attend the programme.
