Aghunaqa Area Students Union (AASU), Changtongya Students\u2019 Union (CSU), Suren Colony (SC) and Razeba Catholilc Youth Association (RCYA) celebrated their respective anniversaries with special programmes. <\/span><\/div>\n
AASU: Aghunaqa Area Students Union (AASU) celebrated silver anniversary-cum-16th general conference from December 28-30 at P. Vihoto village with the theme \u201cprosperous tomorrow\u201d.<\/span><\/div>\n
A press release by AASU stated that advisor PHED, Jacob Zhimomi graced the occasion as chief guest. Addressing a large gathering of students after unveiling the anniversary monolith, Jacob Zhimomi stated that celebrating anniversary was celebrating growth and development of students\u2019 community and therefore students must take up new challenges and pursue it positively. He reminded the students that degree should be followed by hard work in order to accomplish what one desired to achieve in life. He said that textbook knowledge alone was not sufficient to face the social challenges. <\/span><\/div>\n
Pointing out that students play an instrumental role in social harmony and its transformation, Jacob called upon the students of Aghunaqa area to be harbingers of peace and to maintain cordial relationship with its neighbours.<\/span><\/div>\n
CSU: Changtongya Students\u2019 Union (CSU) celebrates its platinum jubilee on December 29, under the theme, \u2018Heedfulness\u2019. <\/span><\/div>\n
A press release by CSU organizing committee stated that in the concluding session, commissioner of police, Dimapur Limasunep Jamir (IPS) exhorted the students to rethink and refine their goals with each milestone. <\/span><\/div>\n
Lauding the achievements of CKT with versatility and dynamism over the years, he also underscored the need for refining and rethinking its goals as the union marched into the future. Changing the societal mindset particularly about government jobs to tackle the problem of the unemployed educated, he urged upon the gathering to \u201cappreciate the talent, achievement and intellect of the sectors other than government jobs\u201d. While touching on the rich history of Changtongya in sporting arena, Jamir opined that a sports academy was suitable for Changtongya which deserved to be upgraded to ADC Hq. <\/span><\/div>\n
Meanwhile, the co-country director for India of American Baptist International Ministry, reverend Taku Longkumer as resource person in another session, stated that, \u201cYouth need to imagine higher because imagination take you everywhere.\u201d <\/span><\/div>\n
Former director of the Nagaland Missionary Movement and the mission secretary of the Council of Baptist Churches in North East India (CBCNEI) Longkumer also noted the five common social evils ailing the Naga society today included concern about material things, about self interest, disregard for all thing that doesn\u2019t affect oneself, a faith in cheating as long as it was not found and lack of true conception. <\/span><\/div>\n
Earlier, the statue of late Pangerkumdang, who had sowed the seeds of modern education in Changtongya, was unveiled outside the CKT\u2019s library. He has been conferred the title, \u201cCKT\u2019s Father of Education\u201d. The jubilee celebration also witnessed entertainment gala featuring, among others, the retro rock band \u201cLord of Rock\u201d and local stand-up comedians.<\/span><\/div>\n
SC:  Suren Colony celebrated 25th years of its existence on December 29, at Anganwadi centre, Wokha town with pomp and gaiety. <\/span><\/div>\n
A press release by convenor of 25th anniversary, Ekyimo Odyuo and secretary, Tsenyimo Humtsoe stated that the anniversary was held to forget and forgive past mistakes and celebrate the blessings that the Lord has bestowed upon its citizens. Suren Colony was named by the than SDO Civil, Nzumongo Ngullie, Rev. L K Tsanglao, pastor WTBC, and father Immanuel of Don Bosco School. <\/span><\/div>\n
In the programme chaired by convener, Ekyimo Odyuo, Khocheo Odyuo gave obituary prayer, special number was presented by Suren Colony Mother\u2019s Association and Suren Colony Youth Organization. Prayer of blessing was offered by WTBC deacon Nlongtsu Shitiri. <\/span><\/div>\n
Statistical and finance report was given by Tsenyimo Humtsoe and vote of thanks was delivered by Chipo Ngullie. The oldest man of the colony, Yilumo Kithan pronounced the benediction prayer.<\/span><\/div>\n
RCYA: Razeba Catholilc Youth Association (RCYA) celebrated its 25th anniversary from December 29-30 at St. Ignatius Church, Razeba, graced by bishop of Kohima Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil and Archbishop of Imphal Most Rev. Dr. Dominic Lumo.<\/span><\/div>\n
According to secretary to Bishop of Kohima, Rev. Fr. Victor Renthungo, Most Rev. Dr. Dominic Lumon officiated the Holy Eucharist as the main celebrant. Bishop James Thoppil congratulated on the occasion the Catholic Youths and said it was a time to express gratitude to God who had inspired and guided pioneering youth who ventured out to accept and live the universality of the Church. <\/span><\/div>\n
Meanwhile on December 29, while speaking as the main speaker, OSD, NSDM, government of Nagaland, Johnny Rongmei addressed the youth under the topic, \u201cin his time\u201d. He exhorted the youth to contribute to the service of the Lord in His time and also shared his experiences. On December 30, the jubilee monolith was dedicated by Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil.<\/span><\/div>\n
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Rev. Fr. James Sangtam, youth director NCYM, Rev. Fr. G L Khing exhorted the youth and after the Holy Mass, a short felicitation programme was organised, wherein Limunya Christina and Kikhovi James hosted the programme. Choral was voiced by CYA Razeba and CYE Razeba besides other presentations. Most Rev. Dr. Dominic Lumon, Archbishop of Imphal also applauded Catholic Youth Association (CYA) of Razeba and gave a short speech. Priests, Sisters, Brothers, delegates from the Catholic Association of Nagaland, invitees, Catholic community from the parish and members from other churches also took part in the celebration.<\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
