C. Jamir would not dampen the spirit of the Indian National Congress in Nagaland but instead give better leverage to fight harder on issues of public importance. NPCC asserted that as a national party, the Congress would not be cowed down by &nbsp; elements inimical to it.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>NPCC thanked the voters of 26 Aonglenden A\/C in particular and all the supporters of the Congress candidate for voting in its favour by braving all adverse elements like threats, intimidation, unprecedented cash flow, etc. unleashed by NPF.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The NPCC urged supporters and workers not to be disheartened by the defeat but to remain steadfast and rise up courageously to face greater challenges ahead.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;&nbsp;Election Campaign Committee of the NPCC said it has learned lessons and asked all its party ranks and files to \u201cbe prepared\u201d to fight the forthcoming general election.<\/div>\n<div>Accepting the defeat of Dr. S. C. Jamir, the election committee convenor, K. Therie said the party regretted for falling short of expectations the prayer of many to elect Dr. Jamir as Nagaland needed to come out from the crossroads.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>He said whether right or wrong, the people of Aoglenden in their wisdom have given mandate and humbly accepted it. &nbsp;He also feted Toshipokba on being elected to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Therie maintained that the polls were neither free nor fair but violated the spirit of the &nbsp;Constitution. He maintained that the result was anticipated after the Electoral College was \u201ccompletely terrorized\u201d and pointed out that on polling day, over 500 NPF youth rounded the polling booths and prevented Congress voters from voting.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;\u201cEach NPF voter was allowed to vote repeatedly, some more than a dozen times,\u201d Therie alleged and attributed NPF\u2019s victory to booth capturing and proxy voting.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>He accused the officers on polling duty of allowing \u201call wrongs\u201d to be carried out in the polling stations and turning deaf and dumb to complaints from the Congress. Therie vowed that he would apologise to any polling official if the person can claim that the principle of one man, one vote was followed after proper identification. Therie also rued that the promise of Prohibition was \u201ccompletely violated.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>He claimed that the NPF did not raise any issue relevant and important to the present and the future during the by-election. He asserted that the by-election was between two governments under the same command versus Congress candidate. \u201cIt was white and red terrorism, cash for vote, flow of prohibited wine and Bolero and Gypsy vehicles that have driven the decision. I am sorry to note that the morals of Nagas have fallen this low,\u201d Therie said.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The Election Campaign Committee extended gratitude to the voters who stood by Congress candidate despite facing all unfair means. The Committee also thanked all ranks and files of Congress Workers for their untiring support.<\/div>\n<div>CLP fetes Gogoi<\/div>\n<div>CLP leader, Tokheho Yepthomi has congratulated Assam chief minister, Tarun Gogoi on his landslide victory in the recently held elections for the third consecutive term.
