{"id":9525,"date":"2011-05-17T00:01:36","date_gmt":"2011-05-17T00:01:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2011\/05\/17\/two-communities-strengthen-bond-of-friendship\/"},"modified":"2011-05-17T00:01:36","modified_gmt":"2011-05-17T00:01:36","slug":"two-communities-strengthen-bond-of-friendship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2011\/05\/17\/two-communities-strengthen-bond-of-friendship\/","title":{"rendered":"Two communities strengthen bond of friendship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><\/p>\n<div>Historically, Longkhum Jungli khel and Pangti Yondon khel were staunch warriors yet, on account of the advancement of Christianity, the forefathers of two khels took initiatives to \u2018Forgive and Forget\u2019 the past misdeeds by head hunters and to bridge the gap of relationships between the two khel communities at the place of Mmhontaphen way back in the 1930s. &nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Marking the day, Longkhum Jungli khel and Pangti Yondon khel celebrate \u2018Aks?\u2019 in Ao dialect and \u2018v?kch?ta\u2019 in Lotha dialect, once in every ten years since 1933.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Named as \u2018Aks?\u2019 or V?kch?ta\u2019, the event was celebrated at Longkhum Jungli khel in a traditional manner on May 13 and 14.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>On the second day, formal meeting was held under the chairmanship of (Rtd) teacher I. Lanu Soyah at the residence of Nangshimeren. Senior citizens of Yondon khel Kimongthung Shitiri who spoke on behalf of his colony said \u2018Aks? or V?kch?ta\u2019 was observed and celebrated so that peaceful atmosphere within these two Khel communities prevailed.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Tatar, Latongjungshi paid rich tributes to forefathers\u2019 for establishing a historical event which was being observed till today. He exhorted the gathering to be united and called upon them to preserve the rich culture, for the benefit of the younger generation.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>District Treasury officer, Mon Nthio Kithan who spoke on behalf of the Yondon Khel residing in the towns, suggested for erection of monolith as significance within the two Khel where the Jungli Khel assured to discuss the matter.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>P. Oren Ngullie, Teacher GHS Sungro emphasized on the importance of various gathering such as political, religious, social, traditional and cultural gatherings for the benefit of the individuals and society yet, reminded them not to misuse such gatherings.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Exchange of valuable items including spears, shields, shawls, cash etc., between the two khels of the villages also marked the day.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Traditional songs were presented by members of both khelsduring the two- day event. Short speeches were also delivered by Tatar Alemwati, Chichanbemo Shitiri, Nrisao Shitiri. On behalf of Yondon Youth Association (YYA), Pangti, President YYA, Achumthung Shitiri brought greetings and YYA also presented special song in Ao dialect.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>It may be noted that \u2018Aks? or V?kchuta\u2019 started during the time of the then head Dobashi Lt. Senkalemba and first Pangti Dobashi Lt.
