{"id":98188,"date":"2016-11-20T00:34:03","date_gmt":"2016-11-20T00:34:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2016\/11\/20\/nbcc-oposses-uniform-civil-code\/"},"modified":"2016-11-20T00:34:03","modified_gmt":"2016-11-20T00:34:03","slug":"nbcc-oposses-uniform-civil-code","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2016\/11\/20\/nbcc-oposses-uniform-civil-code\/","title":{"rendered":"NBCC oposses uniform civil code"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><\/p>\n<div>As the Law Commission of India has sought views and opinion on Uniform Civil Code from all sections, the Nagaland Baptist Council (NBCC) said the council stands \u201copposed in totality for social, cultural and religious codification into a single entity as uniform civil code\u201d.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>In a statement, NBCC opined that UCC would infringe on the religious liberty, saying it has created \u201csuspicion and fear in the minds of the religious minority communities in our country of which Christians of all over the country are included.\u201d&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>NBCC said the debate for a uniform civil code, with its diverse implications, concerning secularism in India was one of the most controversial issues in the 21st century Indian politics.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>BJP was the first political party in India to promise to formulate a uniform civil code if elected to power, NBCC said, while pointing out that even during British-India, the government did not want to touch this \u201chornet nest\u201d as it would affect the very fabric of the socio-religious-cultural unity in her diversities.
